Rolex submariner wait list with real examples

Why do you want a Subby? Is it because
1. You love the design - Get a homage for under £200 and off you go - no wait time and it will be just as practical as the real thing.
2. You want people to think you are cool. Nobody cares what watch you are wearing I'm afraid and if they notice and like it they will be wondering not what a great guy you must be, but rather how THEY would look wearing it.
3. You want to put your money somwhere safe. In that case the market is working as required and the scarcity nonsense is what's keeping it at the price you expect (and need).
Or maybe people just like them? 1. You love the design - Get a homage for under £200 and off you go - no wait time and it will be just as practical as the real thing.

I bought mine because i've always wanted one (Not a sub, but an Explorer, but still).
Not for anyone else.. not because I want to show off, not for an investment.. For me.. because I like it.

No joy on a no-date Sub, nor an AirKing.
Two different ADs - one (vile condescending AD - shovelling watches out to golf club “mates of mates” flippers) two years in.
The other (really pleasant, but unfortunately there’s always a Knightsbridge billionaire who wants six as prezzies for the domestic help in front of you) ‘just’ 12 months.
Woe is me………Two different ADs - one (vile condescending AD - shovelling watches out to golf club “mates of mates” flippers) two years in.

Just buy an Air King from the grey market. They’re not the most sought after and grey prices vs list reflect that.
Or you can continue to feel downtrodden and moan about it
Always liked the Sub and when the chance came to buy one in 2011 I jumped at it. It was second hand 16800 23 years old but completely overhauled by Rolex St James in 2008. I paid £2600 worth every penny considering what it’s worth now. I wear it only on high days and holidays, but the biggest kick for me is my grandson will have it and I hope he will treasure it and hand it down to his offspring’s

This video is excellent and I think I am feeling the same way after many years of ownership. In regards to the opening post not a submariner but for a GMT it was 3 years after I purchased 2 other watches. Jefferson Steelflex said:
I’ve had my name down for a 126610LV for 2 years now.
i’d neglected to visit or call the AD for some time, but was in there last week collecting an OP for my wife and mentioned the wait i’d had. They suggested this was about right and I should be getting a call some time this year. Who knows.
When the Starbucks LV was first released I emailed my usual Rolex AD contact asking for one and was emailed back it would be a ‘two year wait’- so I completely forgot about ever getting it.i’d neglected to visit or call the AD for some time, but was in there last week collecting an OP for my wife and mentioned the wait i’d had. Two years later I was going to London for the day and remembered the email exchange so I emailed them back completely tongue in cheek and said ‘I’m coming to London so I’ll pop in to collect the Starbucks you promised me’
To my complete surprise they replied ‘ok, what time will you be arriving to collect it?’
It just proved to me once again that these stores have decent watches in the safe if they choose to sell them-
