Little Giant Shiraz, or the Cab Sav often on offer a Waitrose at 9.99.
Very enjoyable and my go-to if I'm picking up a bottle on the way home from work.

They also use the term I see a lot on this thread - ‘easy drinking’. What does that mean in the context of wine? I find drinking wine quite easy if I’m honest, so have never felt a wine was ‘too difficult’ to drink.
Does it just mean ‘basic sugary red’? Do you get any tastes from them beyond sweet?
Not meant as a dig - genuinely curious as I can’t tell all these apart.

I agree reference easy drinking, however I have had some in the past that have been bland, boring and almost watered down? This wasn't one of them

My recent discovery in my local Co-Op (which despite being crap at many things has a fair range of wine) is La Jamelle Syrah. £8.05 a bottle and one of the few reds that you can drink slightly too cold from a freshly opened bottle and it's still acceptable.
Oddly, it's more expensive on the Co-Op website (but what do you expect from a company that prefixes its price labels with 'ONLY' after they've put the price up, and can promote pork pies at 'Two for £4' when the cost of one pie is £2?)

I have to admit, it wasn't the Chateau Perenne I bought, it was a Medoc - Chateau Trois Manoirs. Quite an old fashioned Bordeaux really, which evolved over a few hours. Worth a read, I have tried the Sainsburys red wine he suggests and it's a nice drop. The Lidl one I never even noticed so will grab a bottle next time.
