Looks fun - although that teacher needs to read my explanation above about the difference between "Far Side" and "Dark Side" of the moon. You'd have thought Werner Von Braun would have put her straight.
I can see this as a great lads' night out movie.

I've got a friend working on the CG for this. He got in contact a few months back looking for me to come onboard to help out with some modelling, but I had too much other stuff on at the time. Shame since it looks like it would have been a good project to be involved in.

You are right, this is one damn good movie to be involved in And that's really easy, too. They are offering fans a chance to involve in production via a website called Wreck A Movie. Also you can buy movie-branded stuff and this way 'invest' into movie. Or you can actually invest into it ($1000+). I myself run a fan website on it, but it's in Russian.

I can see this as a great lads' night out movie. Heh, we certainly hope so As for the terms, we know well that the actual term is "far side". We're still using "Dark side" because of the pulp feel of the term -- when you get scientific in a movie telling a story about evil Moon Nazis launching a secretly built UFO armada against an unsuspecting Earth, the sudden focus to proper terms might sound a bit, I dunno, false :P But when you go "They're Nazis! In UFO:s! From the dark side of the Moon!", the impact is just about right --- -Jori Virtanen, Iron Sky publicist

Was Max Mosely a consultant on the movie?

Seems to be getting a lukewarm reception from the critics, if not a complete panning. I don't care though, still really looking forward to it.

This doesn't look like a film that "critics" would enjoy First thing it brings to mind for me is a big splash of Lexx... which is a good thing

Bit of an update, Iron Sky has acquired a UK distribution via The Revolver Group, which is good news. The bad news is that it might be a very "select" (i.e. small) number of cinemas that show it. Mark Kermode seemed to enjoy it, which is enough for me to want to hunt it out when it is released.

So, do we know where it will be showing in the UK? I'm drawing a blank. There are a few dozen of us locally (Derby) that want to go and see it. The Nationals chains aren't replying to e-mails (and I cant speak to real people, they don't have such an option on their menu). Not even had a reply from my local Indy

I have been keeping an eye on the BBFC recent classifications list and Iron Sky has yet to appear. I would imagine that the cinemas may well want to know the rating before deciding whether to show it?

UK release put back a month, and no-one, but no-one in cinema land, National or local independent seems to know or care anything about it. E-mail or land line, piss poor response all round, I've been on site in person to ask and just get a look when I start talking about Nazis on the moon. Looks like I'm just going to have to wait for it on DVD

Just seen the advert, and as I did, the Iron Sky UK team posted on fb.
"We have always said that the theatrical run of IRON SKY may go beyond a single day release and here's the news you've all been waiting for …
Revolver is pleased to confirm that after taking on board each and every one of your comments, thoughts and feedback which we sent on to our cinema partners and with their support we are happy to announce that we are extending the film's run in the UK. Following on from the exclusive bloggers premiere on 21st May and the unique IRON SKY DAY on 23rd May, the film will continue to play at selected cinemas for as long as demand dictates. Now is the chance for all of you that have been so vocal to come out, support the film and keep it showing.
In an Official Statement, Ben Freedman, owner of London's Prince Charles cinema, commented: "We've always been in discussions with Revolver about extending the theatrical run of IRON SKY and they have always agreed that if demand was strong enough we would keep it going. We have enormous belief in the potential of the film to become a cult classic in the vein of Rocky Horror and The Room and keep audiences flocking to the Prince Charles for many years to come.
So far the cinemas on board for an extended run are:
The Prince Charles Stratford East Picturehouse Duke of York's, Brighton
The other cinemas who are extending the run will be announced tomorrow and throughout the week."

Just been emailed the latest; IRON SKY DISTRIBUTOR BENDS DUE TO HUGE FAN DEMAND – EXTENDS CINEMA RUN IN THE UK! We are happy to announce that finally, after a long fight, our UK distributor has agreed to change their plans, and Iron Sky will get an extended run in the cinemas.
And the thanks goes to all of you out there! You've made your voices heard, and your demands have been met. It's great news for us, for Iron Sky, and especially for everyone who has been out there waiting for years for this film to reach the big screens.
More than that, this is a wonderful show of force of the people, and a great proof that having a big community backing you up makes you stronger when somebody is trying to walk over you.
Thanks again to you all, now go see Iron Sky in theaters in the UK starting 23.5., and grab a pint after that to celebrate the victory!
Iron Sky is playing in these theaters, starting today:
Prince Charles Cinema Stratford East Picturehouse Ritzy Brixton Curzon Wimbledon Hackney Picturehouse Showcase Bluewater Brighton, Duke of Yorks Tyneside Newcastle Exeter Picturehouse Fact Liverpool The Light, New Brighton Showcase Newham Showcase Dudley Showcase Reading Showcase Coventry Showcase Birmingham Electric Birmingham Showcase Nottingham Showcase Peterborough Hyde Park Picturehouse, Leeds Showcase Leeds Showcase Walsall Showcase Cardiff Showcase Manchester Manchester Cornerhouse Showcase Stockton Showcase Bristol De Lux Bristol Watershed Showcase Derby De Lux Showcase Leicester De Lux Showcase Liverpool Showcase Paisley Sheffield Showroom
Scotland: Cameo Edinburgh Belmont Aberdeen Showcase East Glasgow Dundee Contemporary Arts Eden Court Inverness
Ireland: QFT Belfast Cork Triskel
The film will continue to play on these cinemas as long as there's demand from 25.5. onwards:
The Prince Charles Cinema, London Picturehouse Stratford East Picturehouse Belmont Aberdeen Picturehouse Exeter Duke of York's, Brighton
Showcase Coventry (Evening Showings) Showcase Glasgow East (Evening Showings) Showcase Coventry (Evening and Late Night Showings) Showcase Cardiff Nantgarw (Late Night screenings) Showcase Derby De Lux (Late Night screenings) Showcase Leicester De Lux (Late Night screenings)
Best,
Timo Vuorensola, Director of Iron Sky
Tero Kaukomaa Producer of Iron Sky
and the rest of the Iron Sky team!
Ps. Although Revolver has now agreed to extend the cinema run, they haven't paid us.
They owe us a considerable sum of money – most of the Minimum Guarantee, which they should have paid already. We could prevent them from screening the film, but we won't do that, because that wouldn't be cool for the audience.
We wanted to let you know this because it's an issue that's bugging us, and we may need to act on it at one point, but so far we will hope they'll respect their part of the agreement soon.
