I think he's a bit of a curmudgeon but that's the appeal. Old fella still puts in a hell of a shift and the mistakes are just car dealer patter. At the end of the day, he's a used car salesman...I still love the show, hope it goes on like this for many more seasons

Scraping the barrel to find something to criticise now, aren't we?
Sorry, no! I have to bite my tongue every week, I’m glad somebody else chirped up and criticised it.

Do they think people interested in older cars are that vacuous?
No, it's for the general public, not the people that are actually interested in the cars. It's for the rest who make it possible for it to be on a higher-profile channel in prime time instead of on Quest mid-afternoon, and fill up the "live" show. In that regard it's like most of the other car-related commercial TV output. It irritates me too, and I record it for exactly the same reasons, so I can skip the pre-amble, the titles, the ad breaks, anything about bikes or tractors. I've given up getting annoyed about it.

The intro hasn't been the same for all 9 series- it used to have Sarah Crabtree in it, and used different quotes/clips.
I stand corrected.
It DOES need to be changed again now though, I agree.

There are plenty of shows where there is an intro that is the same, that's why recording and then fast forward through this and adverts is so useful.

Also if there's a segment of no interest you can cut that though more often find something that's unexpectedly fascinating.

Takes all different types.

Just don't watch that bit if it bothers you that much. Either FF through it, or tune in at 8:03 if you're watching it 'live'.

Exactly, I'm in it for the cars I find the most annoying bit about the show is the glimpse of a more interesting car in the background yet you never get to hear about it.
I’d go along with that, for example I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Porsche featured .

I can’t say that I’m bothered by the “nestling under the North York Moors” shtick

Don't think there's been a 911 featured, but they have featured a 924, the red one that 16 year old lad bought before he could even drive on the road.

Some younger stuff wouldn’t go amiss (80s). It’s all been things I’ve never even heard of lately due to the age of it.

I spotted a nice silver 309 GTi that I really wanted to hear about.

That old Ambulance was just a waste of TV time - truly terrible.

I think it's the last of the series this week, then straight into a new series of the restoration show next week.

Over time, yeah… but recent episodes have been heavy on older stuff. Mixing it up a bit more within episodes would be welcome.

Won’t stop me watching mind you.

I'll keep watching it, albeit recorded so I can skip the intro, adverts, and anything that doesn't interest me.

I went there last year and was lucky enough to have a brief chat with Derek who struck me as a nice guy who still has a passion for what he has been doing for ages. Then I went to the Pickering site and spoke briefly to Dave who didn't seem quite as chilled.

If you like B&C but for some reason don't like Derek (I think he is a great character), then watch Heartbeat, where you can see all the cars and get a storyline as well. Maybe go to the car show.

It's amazing how much difference the tin-top made in the price of the TR.

biggrin. I liked the TV show and it would be kinda neat to own the actual car, but that buyer must have REALLY wanted it. Bonkers (IMHO).

Not just the buyer but the underbidders as well.
