Avengers! Well I don't often watch films at the cinema or in 3D, but this I felt deserved both. The 3D was inconsequential with only one or two moments of "oooh..." As for the film itself, it's long! but very rarely does it drag, if it's not bringing you up to speed with the characters, it's preparing the battleground with a sharp script and dizzying special effects, and then there's the fight...SOOOOO much destruction! and the most memorbale aspect?...the humour! 5 or 6 genuine full on belly laughs that had the whole cinema laughing...and they're certainly not all Downey Jr's....it's difficult not to spoil it here, but I'll resist anyway I guess for me if there was a negative it would have to be the background story, it just gets trounced by script, effects, humour and destruction... is it a good film? well it's no oscar winner, is it enjoyable? hell yes! 8.5/10
oh and it would have been nice to see Ed Norton or Eric Bana as the green bloke....new guy does well though...

22 Bullets, excellent crime drama starring Jean Reno. Bit gory in places so not to everyone's taste.

Most reviews are saying that Mark Ruffalo is the real surprise in the film. hmm he isn't a nobody either is he He plays his part well, very watchable, but in a film with L Jackson, Downey Jr et all ALL hamming it up wonderfully, for me he blended in, not stand out, not fade to the back...

Norton deffo, not 6'2 strapping Ozzie Bana, hopelessly miscast. Sort of misses the point of Bruce Banner/Hulk Jekll/Hyde thing.

Came in late last night and my Mrs had borrowed the film of the book she'd just read: The Help about a group of black maids in Jackson, Missisippi in the early '60s who are asked by a writer to tell their tales for a book. I quite enjoyed it even though I sat down and thought I'd hate it.

I saw the Avengers yesterday. I have to say I was disappointed. Iron Man wasn't even in it although Sean Connery in a Teddy Bear outfit was quite funny...
Then I realised my mistake and went to the cinema to see Avengers Assemble. Trying to talk about it without spoilers is difficult, but I'll try. I have to state that in my early years I was a massive marvel fan, this obviously makes me more likely to enjoy the recent movies leading up to the Avengers. If you didn't like Iron Man 1&2, Thor, The incredible Hulk and Captain America; 1. What's wrong with you? 2. There is a good chance you're not going to like this either. If you liked these movies then this takes everything to the next level. It starts off slow, but never drags at all. For most of the movie I had a massive grin on my face. I had big expectations for this film and it delivered. I can’t remember seeing another 150 minute film that went by so fast. My only small criticism; Tony Stark feels like a slightly different character from the one in the Iron Man films. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but its not quite right. I don’t suppose most people will even notice.

In Avengers Assemble he has to share the glory, tricks, toys, plus he's all loved up with Pots...he still had enough specifics and quips to be recognisable though, like you say he's not 100% (although same could easily be said for the others, sharing the screen means they have to share the limelight and let others 'in'....)

Action as you would expect but the humour is also brilliant in a way the only Wheedon seems to manage these days. Captain America is great in this, a properly believable leader Thor is just Thor (I love the character) Iron man is always fun Hulk..... Holy crap.... Just perfect!! (especially those two moments with certain gods.... If you've seen it you know ) I would even go so far as to rate the movie 9.8/10 (10/10 wouldn't only upset folk even it's what I actually mean )

CEDAR RAPIDS - 2/10 f king crap, plot - This geeky insurance salesman goes to a convention and things happen. I think the things that happened were meant to be funny or even mildly amusing but it was just s t! Yes, I hope you had as much bother making sense out of the above sentence as I had writing it, Id try criticising the film more constructively but it was just that s te I want to forget about it.

Death Wish 3 - this film is utterly dreadful, by which of course I mean utterly awesome. Charles f king Bronson running around blowing away bad guys like it's a video game. The series was never known for subtlety, but here they abandoned any last vestiges of reality in favour of one dimensional characters, cartoonish bad guys, a romance from absolutely nothing, and quite the most bizarre musical score you're likely to hear. The climatic shootout is just insane, with the entire neighbourhood turned into a war zone and Charles f king Bronson fighting his way through legions of goons to the final boss, who is duly dispatched with a rocket launcher. You even have player 2 (the Police Chief) joining in, but of course he isn't remotely as cool since he is not Charles f king Bronson.

Troll hunter - low budget movie about a troll hunter. It's in a fake documentary style much like Blair witch. I enjoyed it, 8/10.
