There doesn't seem to be a dedicated thread on this but various bits and bobs spread around.
Who caught the debate on Sky News last night? I didn't see all of it but I would say the only serious threat to Boris is second preference votes. Green and possibly Lib Dem voters will probably put Ken as their second choice so Boris needs a good first round victory.
I like Boris Johnson but in a panel debate setting he can struggle especially up against two accomplished public speakers like Livingstone and Paddick.

I caught the comments afterwards where they were talking about the tweets, made me laugh how different can view the same thing but jump to polar opposite opinions of who was stronger. Quite a few people thought Boris appeared stronger but no one really made any knockout blowws

Current Polls suggest Boris will win albiet narrowly after two rounds. Livingstone is a bit too close behind him for comfort though. Certainly within the 'margin of error' political analysts so often talk about.

I despise politicians of all parties yet weirdly I don't see the London Mayor as a party political thing. What I want, as someone who lives & works in London, is someone who can do the job. Ken has a track record of NOT being up to it, (whilst lining his own pockets & those of his cronies), yet Boris has done a lot of good, sensible things. I'm voting for Boris because of that and Ken can go f k himself.

That is odd. How can it be soo close? I mean there are other candidates right and THAT close?
Am I being alittle 'thick'?

What are these polls? And who gets asked?
I’m 47 now and never been asked by Mori or whoever carrries these polls out.
I’m sure it’s just a little bloke with a weak bladder in the corner of a room making it up as he goes along.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to describe Ken

Sorry, I didn’t mean to describe Ken Friend of mine was once registered with one of the marketing companies (not Mori), they paid him something each time he was called up IIRC. They would ring him up and ask him things. He would lie, often outrageously. They employ people to call up their lists who have no interest in what the person at the other end say except to log the call and record the answers to set questions. From here it seems Mori call people randomly (nuisance callers) - http://www.ipsos-mori.com/contactus/approachedbyus...

Am I being alittle 'thick'? The election is by Supplementary Vote. Each voter marks their first and second preference. If no candidiate receives 50%+1 of the first preferences then the top two candidiates (by first preference) advance to the second stage while the others are eliminated. Voters of the eliminated candidiates are then redistributed according to their second preferences amongst the two remaining candidiates. If they don't indicate a second preference, they don't get redistributed. The actual polls ask for your first preference and second preference, providing complete results. But the headlines only tend to mention the second stage of Boris v Ken (since they're the only two with a realistic chance) - hence 51-49.

As in the past in Glasgow (Govan) asian MP, Leicester and of course everyones favourite Vaz....... Time that it was made compulsary to vote, whereby you MUST appear with your photo ID (cards), any other system can be fraudulent. BTW a "none of these" vote must be on the cards as well.

I'll second that, very happily. It astonishes me that democracy - something central to our country's existence, mindset and being - can be so wide open for flagrant abuse. And, not only that but the fact that such abuse is not investigated or countered! (It's also a disgrace that immigrant communities who can trace their arrival in this country to a desire to live somewhere more democratic than 'home' then seek to bring down that democracy.) Oli.
