When people say the source of funding for this stuff is "either Soros, China or Russia" I'm comfortable in thinking they're suggesting more than some arms length links about where some of some grants have ended up.

Anyone sensible knows the word Soros has become shorthand for all kinds of conspiracy theory horsest.

Ironically, it’s shorthand for “Jews are conspiring against us”.

Much like the Tory donor stuff you are constantly on about?

The Israeli government cannot stand Soros as well so no it isn't some Jews are taking over conspiracy theory. Far more that many people disagree with the aims and methods of Soros, and the organisations he funds, and some seek to shut down that criticism because Soros just happens to be Jewish.

Particularly ironic to accuse people of anti-Semitism for being against Soros when some of the groups he financed supported the Oct 7th attacks and were making justifications on the day or just afterwards.

Personally I think that celebrating the rape and slaughter of hundreds of Jewish civilians to be a stronger indicator of anti-Semitism that being against someone like Soros.

What we're they supposed to do?

Americans get quite uppity about their flag.
They also get uppity about the word "uppity". In the US it has racist connotations, because it was often used to describe black people perceived to have "ideas above their station".

Of course, that means that in the globalised/Americanised world of Reddit you get people getting upset with you, for reasons they don't understand because they are not an American, about using a word for which there are no racist connotations. See also "fag" to describe cigarette and "oriental" to mean eastern (again, historically racist connotations in the US but not here).

Well it looks like the retard virus has crossed the Atlantic:

Demands from the *Oxford* students:

At Oxford, camp leaders have pinned up a board with a list of six demands to university chiefs, including to “boycott Israeli genocide, apartheid and occupation”, to “disclose all finances”, “stop banking with Barclays”, help rebuild Gaza’s education system and “divest from Israeli genocide, apartheid and occupation”.

They added in a statement: “There is no university in the history of human civilisation that is more complicit in violence, dispossession, and the building of destructive colonial empires than the University of Oxford.

I don’t know how they possibly can sleep at night in their college rooms…

More UK Universities join the protests

Protests are supported by many of the faculty and staff members according to reports.

Isn't it kind of a students perogative to protest, get all excited by whatever the latest trend is, make lots of noise, feel good about making a difference, graduate and move on? Adults just need to patiently smile and nod and wait for them to get bored and move to the next popular protest.

Also, don't deploy snipers.

And yet, they still want Oxford written on their degree.

Student Grant has been annoyed about palestinians forever; the SWP hawkers were forever clogging up the entrance to the union waving banners and being unpleasant when I was idling my way through a degree, unsurprisingly they're still there now.

As long as one person is not antisemitic that makes it OK. Got it. Same as the hate marches in London.
Strange argument but I guess it made sense when you typed it.
Except he said nothing like that. Feeble attempts to twist people's words doesn't make them look feeble; it makes you look intellectually dishonest. So why do it?

I imagine they came up with that punchline after a serious bit of historical research and definitely not after three pints of shandy.

Student protests always attract a load of childish plonkers. When student groups are on opposite sides of a debate, the greatest noise comes from the clash of each sides' most ardent plonkers. It tells you nothing about the merits of either side of the debate while undermining real discussion.

Student Grant again. Noisy twerps enjoying the sound of their own voice, they gravitate toward these organisations because it's self-aggrandisement which no one else is interested in.

It’s about a pro-Israeli group. But in any case, the NUS stamped on it.

Cambridge creates martyrs while Oxford burns them.

Presumably going to Oxford means you have a reasonably high IQ & you would have researched it's history, including all the colonial stuff. If you felt that strongly, surely you would go to a different university?
