A much wittier friend came out with this, and I see no reason to disagree, he is Gussy Finknottle.

I could take David seriously. Ed just seems a complete tit. google the picture of him with the banana - almost as bad as the wallace comparison

I think it was more a vote to keep his brother from winning (and keep Ed Balls out too) than any desire to see Ed as leader.
The Conservatives and Lib Dems must be loving the fact that Labour have still got Eddie in charge. With him Labour have absolutely no chance of winning anything anytime soon.
But then again; it could be worse - they could have that Ed Balls in the top job. Now that is a man I really have a dislike for (even more than Ed if I'm honest).

I've got two issues, firstly he's meant to be the brains and his brother was meant to be face of new, new Labour.
Secondly the only decent thing to do with a surname like that is to be called Steve.
Seriously though I think he's sacrificial lamb for the Labour party, after the last election they were a mess and there was always going to be a long period when they couldn't win a raffle, depending on how they fancy their chances at the next election ether a year before or just after Ed will step down for his brother or perhaps someone else who looks good kissing babies and can string a sentence together a PMQ's.
