The League 1 and 2 Thread

Anyone [cough] noticed the League One table this morning? I'll be honest, I didn't think we (Pompey) would achieve this, but to have lost only 4 out of 44 games this season, with a rookie manager in his first managerial job, and a long list of serious injuries is just brilliant.
It's no coincidence that we now have owners that have invested in infrastructure and have brought stability; the club is debt free and in better shape than I can remember. Can't wait for the new season, but first a party at home against Wigan on Saturday: Play Up Pompey!

Well deserved. You demonstrated the kind of steel that has been absent for us these last few weeks. We were a point behind Derby with 3 games in hand a month ago and now we'll be lucky to finish 4th. Last night was terrible against a team that have drawn a blank 22 times this season.

I was there with my two sons last night, what a fantastic evening. So so very happy and a little relieved.
Roll on the Championship.

Brilliant that your kids were with you CB; my first game was in 1971 with my father. It took a few years to properly get the bug but I was a season ticket holder for 30 years from around 1980. Last night was amazing and I know Dad would have loved it. Sadly he died five years ago but I had a little chat to him last night (in my head, but you know what I mean). Not ashamed to say there were a few tears. I hope your sons get the bug. Special club, special fans and last night was damned special too. So so very happy and a little relieved.
Roll on the Championship.

Really chuffed for you
It is nice to see what clubs can achieve when liberated from the leach/megalomaniac/uninterested owners and the unsympathetic EFL. More clubs like Pompey, Luton, Stockport & ourselves are demonstrating it can be better in the long term. I do fear the Championship is where the real insanity starts tho' and I don't really want to see us back in the PL if I'm honest. Still sympathise with Bury, Southend, Reading supporters and others. Preston are a decent role model in our circle, Brighton & Brentford further up.

Indeed And that infamous quote not in the wider interests of football

Of course, Wimbledon a great example too of what can be turned round after being completely shafted.
Indeed, 9 years from players trials on Wimbledon Common to the EFL and another 9 to get back to Plough Lane (although sadly not on the original site, but only a few hundred yards away). And all under fan ownership

Doncaster having an unbelievable run. One win off setting a club record.
19th to 5th in I think 16 games. Playoffs almost guaranteed and if you were the other teams I don't think you'd fancy facing them.
Was there on Saturday, brilliant second half to come back from 2 goals down. Its a shame the manager will almost certainly be poached, again.
