Hi, hope its the right section, I am looking for a bit of advice. I am looking to bring one race type trailer from Italy to the UK. The trailer takes about 1/2 truck, its slightly over 6m long. I dont have a certain date in mind, more looking for a suggestion on what's the best way.

Whats the best, reasonable priced option ?

I tried shiply and so for forth for van quotes but to be honest i would have more piece of mind if it was on the back of a lorry rather than towed all the way.

Depends on if it can be loaded like frieght (ie forklifted on) if it can then can you get it off at your end ? Otherwise its international recovery , like Ontime .

Cool, yeah it can be forklifted and offloaded at both ends, no problem. I've asked ontime for a quote.

Is it covered or open ?
I'm guessing a recovery type firm won't be the cheapest.
Depending on size and dimension a group age trailer could be an option.

dimensions could be an issue - will it fit in side a curtainsider and if so does it have to bew a UK type or one of the continential types which appear to be a cross between a curtainsider and a tilt...

If you have the dimensions give Special Carrier a ring on 01304 820999.

It's covered, ie 2m high. It will fit a curtainsider, yes.

Thanks, will speak to special carrier.

Yes that will fit. European trucks work on a max height of 4 metres thats why a lot of them run on the low rider wheels, so as to increase load space. It will fit no problem smile

There's quite a few websites where you can post what you want and people looking for backloads etc will give you a quote, you never know your luck but they are mainly the haulage equivalent of Gumtree.. Things like.. http://www.loadup.co.uk/cgi-bin/cd.pl

Tried http://www.tudorfreight.com/ ? They're normally quite good at random Euro stuff, few people have used them for big stuff when they're moving house on the other side of the pond..
