I'm now going to make this thread my readers truck blog thingy.

15 days gone and something has broken !

A brake bulb has gone.

It would be quite difficult to not get the warnings as you also get the ding ding ding ding when you turn on the ignition.

The big warning gets a bit smaller but there are 3 signs showing fault present.

There's the Orange triangle above the temp guagd and a little bulb symbol by the cab diagram.

The screws holding the light cover is now held on with torx screws do my screwdriver is no good either.....irked

Maybe the viscious acceleration and high speed has just loosened the bulb. Its a quick truck, right??

All the new Euro 6 trucks are pants from all the emissions strangling they have fitted. Our fleet is mainly Iveco and the new 18 tonners are absolutely horrible. They won't even pull up M62 J25-24 empty without dropping down to 50 and if there's any sign of a headwind it's mid 40s... empty. The previous gen ones we've got on 10 and 11 plates with the same size engine are flying machines. The Stralii aren't really any worse than the special gen ones as they still have the glacial acceleration and completely feel-less steering but the gear change seems to be slightly quicker.

The XF105s and FH500s on our fleet probably pull the best but the DAFs really need to be worked hard on the revs to keep them on the boil when pulling max weight. Luckily the gearboxes on these are fairly snappy so they're pretty decent to drive.

One thing we have noticed is the fuel consumption for both the diesel and adblue is significantly higher than their euro 5 brothers.
I bet it's because it's now seen that in the tradeoff of business (costs, wages, time) versus environment, the environment has officially been deemed to win the choice. Therefore the engine will prefer to favour emissions and if that means dropping to 40mph on the uphill then "that's fine".

..perhaps?
Yep we've noticed too that EU5 to EU6 on Merc Actros that AdBlue usage is way up. This is because they run hotter combustion now to deal with the PM (apparently EU6 vehicles could pass the PM part of the emissions regs all on their own, no DPF required) and simply generate a boat load of NOx which is then handled by the new SCR systems.

We're producing ECUs that will run the engines mostly on natural gas. Getting the gas to burn nicely = massive NOx, we've been chewing through AdBlue like its going out of fashion. It must be hosing it in there!

I've just looked up adblue, it appears to be pretty much urine! Must be pretty cheap?
