Is the Avatar truck from up here in Scotland? I've seen it or another Avatar themed one at a couple of shows.

3-grand wouldn't buy a truck&trailer's-worth of custom paint for example

Yes its mine, well, its the boss mans, I just drive it, ive had it since April working out of Southampton but been told this week its going in January (along with our Scania LongLine) to be replaced with new trucks.Really going to miss it, it has a seriously loud set of side pipes on it and has nearly 700bhp. It certainly won my heart, for me the really sad part is I know deep down i'll never have a truck like that again due the ever more stringent exhaust emissions etc. Boss has an R730, sounds nice with stacks, but not as good as 'Wolverine'.

You wouldn't happen to drive for Ken Reed by any chance?... Yeah that's what inclined me to ask. He indeed used to run two LLs, the blue one, V8 EXC, has been sold on now and replaced with an R730 Blue Stream IIRC.
Smashing looking truck when I saw at Peterborough Truckfest back in May! Imagine its been blinged and customised a wee bit more by now!
Whilst on the tangent of Long Lines... Would love to get look at Stu Nicol from Shotts' newest addition to the fleet! Custom made R580 Streamline with a stretched cab that's just Replaced a T Cab one of their longest serving drivers ran from new IIRC and its a very special truck by all accounts!...

Yes I do work for Ken (K.E.R). Ive only ever had 'Wolverine' I have driven a few of the others but only just a quick shunt to the docks from our yard, you won't have seen my name in the front of a DAF (not yet anyway ) but we do all run in convoy to the shows so I expect you seen my name in 'Wolverine' running with them.He indeed used to run two LLs, the blue one, V8 EXC, has been sold on now and replaced with an R730 Blue Stream IIRC.

Great looking wagon for its years that I must say and the others from what I have seen are at a similar standard too. Credit to ya, always good to see a fleet with pride
Think the Blue Stream is probably my fave new tractor at the minute. They do indeed look the business! Definitely not a truck that needs too much bling to enhance its appearance for sure. Did see David G Davies' new 730 Blue last week and that's on the other end of the scale entirely!...
Same story with the Golden Griffin too IMO. (No.8 lives not too far away from me... )

He was talking about his typical jobs which were back of cab jobs, side of cab jobs. Remember he only does the airbrushing, the chassis, cab paint etc is done elsewhere normally.

Its an impressive skill I've done small bits logos and flames but not a chance on freehand brushing, the hours and hours and hours that are involved before and while laying the art, we/he done a s14a for a mag took ten hours in the oven think to hire the alone was 2k
There's something of the art of the fairground ride about these trucks. Out of interest why advertise movies? Why not some kind of original topic?
Around my area (Derby/Staffs) there's a lot of wagons with what look like disco lights in the cabin and possibly nicknames on the front of the truck...things like 'Caveman' and 'BigLen'. Is this the same kind of thing or is it more territorial (more personalised)?

Not all trucks have a film theme air brushed on them, I've seen ones with animal themes, WW1 & WW2 themes, celebrity themes such as Fred Dibner and Johnny Cash, F1 theme. Erm... Bit of a strange question.Why does anyone customise any vehicle?
I've customised or modified every car I've ever owned and if I had a truck I would certainly do the same.
Also I was under the opinion that these trucks were company property (as opposed to beongoing private property) and so didn't really understand why you'd pay to put a huge picture of John McLean (sp) on the side.
Not knocking it - just wondering what the history on it was.

Most of the trucks are owned by companies, but the company wants them to look good so they happily spunk loads of cash on them. It's all about having pride in your fleet and making a name.A lot of the trucks from big haulage companies that you see that are covered in lights and a few bits and pieces, these are usually paid for by the driver assigned to that truck. This is both good and bad... It's good that the driver looks after their truck so much they are happy to spend a grand or so making them look cool, but it's bad because they then kick off whenever someone else drives 'their' truck...
