Great spot.

Very, very nice especially if it's as good as it looks. If anybody was looking to actually invest (proper) in a car under 20k that sure has got to be a contender. Lovely.

I like the idea but in reality I'd be raising it back up to a sensible height (and therefore have to re-do all CG's good work) ripping out the ICE and putting the rear seats back in, and regretting it not being a C2, just because.

There are an amazing number of RS-a-likes based on Red C4's. Who'd have thought it.

Have you ever been Loon?

I've looked at it for the last 5 years or so but never actually made it.

Could you drive it without killing its value (or it falling apart), or does it need to be stuck in a dehumidified garage and rolled out for show only?

Personally, I couldn't resist driving it! As a strict investment I think it would be a difficult balancing act, used on fine days is good no doubt but excess use won't help I suppose unless there's no penny pinching when it come to repairs & maintenance. If it's all original and has a nice patina it would be wise to keep it that way imo. Then again I'm in the process of spending more money on old car repairs, so it could be argued WTF do I know? wink

I think these cars are for using, but you must be prepared for updating parts from time to time as they wear or rust. I tend not to use my car in the frost or salt, but if it's mainly fine with chance of rain i just use the thing and don't get too hung up on it. They're fun to balance in the wet anyway!

As a classic Alfa owner, what do think on the '69 Zagato?

This was my Uncles that sold at the Race Retro auction back in Feb.

In fairness, it was a usable example, but needed a repaint and some gently TLC on the interior. Lovely car though and absolutely tiny by modern standards. Loved it. smile

Well, it's pretty much the same car with a different body. Personally I prefer the step-front design over the zag or the later smooth nose, but it's subjective.
I would think that bodywork or panels are quite a premium on the zagato.
Market value tends to run like this:
Smooth front <step front jnr <1750gtv <zagato <step front sprint <gta

specifically, it's probably good value as lhd, and looks nice and original. I like the gold alloys - compromotive?
Eta: nope, stil-autos.

£11.4k but needing a bit of TLC as per MattOZ. I wonder was any work carried out besides a wheel colour change.

Are we saying it's the same car chaps? Some of the prose is similar, and the comments on mileage add up, so it could be. Needs some sleuthing! If it is the same car and the current seller wants £17k for it, then it should certainly have had a full repaint in the meantime. Just IMO, of course.

Edited to add that having read the current advert, it's almost certainly his old one. smile

s it the E55 which shares coolant between the engine and gearbox, and which has a habit of leaking said coolant into the box?
As far as I know that's specific to the E500 with a certain manufacturer's radiator (Valeo?).
There's a long thread on here somewhere about a chap with an E55 suffering this exact problem - glycol contamination IIRC. I've trawled back through my posts but can't find it just yet.

Oh, and "ferrous oxide". wink
I think this is the thread.

Interesting supercharged 993 c2, but seems a tad steep and needs nicer alloys

Great patina. Much prefer that to some overpolished restored example.
A Frenchman I work with was telling me about a classic car race he had seen in the south of France. The place eludes me right now, wasn't the GP historique de Pau, although I'm sure a beard from the thread will know. Anyway, he was just saying there were two type 35 racing, one on French plates, looked absolutely stunning, and one on UK plates described similarly to that one.
The French one was being driven very cautiously but the British car was driven in a manner that would have made Ettore proud. The UK registered car was the one that received most cheers from the Gallic crowd apparently thumbup
Loon has already answered, but its Angouleme, Circuit des Ramparts. Its usually on during Goodwood Revival weekend. My local track. Nice town.

My parents go to Angouleme/Duras region for a few weeks every year, may well pop down there myself for a few days and join them this year.

New tyres all round have transformed the 'teg. Feels much lighter on its feet and has cut right down on the cabin nose. Bad news is that now I can really hear the wheel bearing that's gone. frown

It's also booked in for the clutch, earliest they can do it? 6th June!
