This is my absolute pet hate, yep move it a few feet forward, zero impact on you, and a huge big benefit for the next person looking to park up. Grrrr
See this crap parking on an almost daily basis, and those who leave a gap between their car a the end of the bay, FFS park up to the line. Two of these each end and gaps in between, two or three spaces unusable.

Odd footpath, there’s a grassed area in front of the Defender so that would make it exceptionally short. And pointless.

My first observation was that it isn’t a footpath.

I wondered if it had been dumped there while all the other spaces to the left were full. While it's no excuse, it makes it slightly less bad. But if the OP saw the driver, presumably they saw it when it was parked. It just looks like a raised kerb area to me, rather than a footpath to nowhere. Still not a parking space, though.

It’s a paved area designed for safe vehicle egress / ingress or a place to stand while tending to kids in car seats, etc.

Also means there’s less chance of another car rounding the corner and clouting an open door.

As it stands, there was a good chance the Defender driver could’ve climbed out, straight into the path of a moving car. Darwin Awards, anyone?

Come on guys, show some compassion, this is most likely the furthest off-road this Defender will get to experience...

Regular occurrence at Richmond on Thames. Driver usually hiding amongst the onlookers hoping noone realises it's him.
Extra points for doing it while pubs are open for bigger and more easily amused audience.

I used the word 'footpath' as i didnt know what other word to use to describe it,and there wasnt any other vehicles parked to the left when the defender parked up which was about 30 seconds before i took the photo

Well whatever it is it's certainly not a parking space.

Absolute bellend. Why do these bellends gravitate to Land Rovers.and play up to the stereotype?

Parked up, no attempt to get between the lines, didn't plug it in. £250 personal plate. Asda. Utter chav scum family got out. The type you would hate to sit next to, but be completely unsurprised by, at Miller and Carter. Stereotypes ticked so much the pen has gone through the paper.

Be interesting to see how much shuffling they need to do to get out of the space.

We had a parade this morning, ATC, scouts, dignitaries, the mayor, so the road was closed.
At the narrow point someone parked like this.

I don't actually mind that - the pavement is wide enough. I'd change my mind if over half the car was on there, however.

Picture taken from the entrance of the pub car park which is to the left of where I'm standing. As I drove in I thought they were deciding which of the multiple spaces they wanted to park in. Then I noticed there was no one in it. Smack bang in the middle of the car park.

Was there for at least the 10 mins I was in and out, even if someone was just jumping out there's a space right next to it they could have driven into directly from entering the car park, plus the several ahead of it at the end where I parked.

My bets were on someone half cut tried to leave, got the keys taken and that's where it stayed from the night before.

If a good Samaritan offered to park the car neatly, could they be done for driving without insurance and TWOC if the owner was resistant? Hence the car stays abandoned.
