People who brake when a car is coming in the other direction, why?
Because they are incompetent dullards that haven't a clue about how wide their vehicle is.
I have always maintained that driving through width barriers at a minimum of 60mph should be part of the driving test.
They're probably the same people who want to pass the parked cars on their side of the road, and want the whole road to do it.

It's a common issue round here. You'll be driving along, your side of the road is clear. You see parked cars on the other side of the road, and a car approaching that will reach the line of cars at the same time as you. So, you assess the road as wide enough for you to give them some room so no-one has to stop, and get closer to the kerb... But they've decided they want to pass the parked cars, yes, however they need six feet between them and the stationary cars.

I totally understand that they might be worried about a door opening into their path, but there's two mitigations available to them... They could slow significantly, giving them a better chance of stopping before hitting any errant door flingers. Or, they could wait for you to get past before they head out to your side of the road.

But no. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

I will confess to being 'bad' for that, if it is bad to do so. I am always concerned about a door opening, a child or dog running out from between parked cars or a pedestrian stepping out from behind and SUV, van or truck. Also my left eye has poor peripheral vision due to several eye surgeries, detached retina etc... I also pass parked cars slowly and carefully for the same reasons. If that makes me a knob, the st fits and ill wear it. I will caveat this by saying I'll always flash someone else through first if I can see them, for all of the above reasons, because I'm never in a hurry and because I don't trust any other users to be adept behind the wheel although, luckily, I almost unfailingly find them to be so.

A slight thread deviation on an Internet discussion forum dedicated to searching for negativity and calling other people 'knobs' results in posters being called weirdos? This forum redefines irony on a daily basis smile Happy to pass the baton back to more 'normal' posters. As y'all were. Have a wonderful weekend all. X

The person last night in the SVR that took the wrong junction at the motorway, and instead of going the wrong way decided they would drive over the hashed markings, put the boot down, and peppered my windscreen with stones and chipped it.

Why can't people just go the way they have chosen rather than at best inconveniencing others, or at worst risking their life and others.

Because we now live in the "me, me, me, and in case I didn't mention it, me!" world. There is a surfeit of people who just live and do everything, "convenient for me, and fk everyone else". It was there before but has increased massively post-covid.

I think society in general ‘took a hit’ due to Covid, in ways we probably won’t fully understand for a long time.

Yes I often summarise it as everyone is 50% more of a prick and at least 25% more mental than in 2019

100%, I don’t know quite what it is but on the sharp end of the emergency services we definitely know this!
