fk me, he's back...on a thread about something he hates.
Have you done your flip flops?
Seeing as you detest ICE and you're looking to sell your classic ICE you've had for 30 years seeing as you now hate how polluting it is why don't you stay on the EV threads? Instead you come on a thread about an engine that's a work of art purely to tell anyone who's interested how poor it is....

On the side bar, I mean come on - this or wires with a commutator or what ever is inside electric motors??
Come on people - has to be this…!!!
Unpopular opinion: yet another variation on last century's tech, which is mechanically still based on James Watts reciprocating steam engine of the 18th century and still stupidly inefficient. How boring.Come on people - has to be this…!!!

For our long journeys to France or Scotland I still have to keep a diesel XF.
Electric motors are dull, internsl combustion engines are engineering marvels. The suck bang timing, pistons travelling at incredible speeds over and over, the sound and the different sounds.
Back to the article about another work of art, what a thing! That would be a total waste in my old BMW but who cares!!

I note your post has been quoted and commented on by a number of PH'ers. And not in a nice way.....From your profile
"Sold my 1957 Triumph TR3A for more than I paid for it, after having been its custodian for well over fifteen years. Then bought a Tesla. I am now forever lost for the Internal Combustion Engine. No regrets whatsoever."
I must say, your moving from a Triumph TR3A to a Tesla is quite a leap in automotive interest. From a two-seater, 11 seconds+ 0-60, open top fun machine to an anonymous, tin box is a pretty big change.
Do you really not miss the actual fun of driving something where you are/were so in tune with the both machine and the elements?
The Tesla may be impressive but, new toy aside, have you ever woken up early one summer morning and thought "I'm going to get out the Tesla and gone for a drive - just for the sheer fk-off-edness of it?
Perhaps you might like to change your username from tr3a to something like........... t3sla. Just a thought

I can only assume you're not very familiar with the history of electric engines and electric cars.tr3a said:

Unpopular or not, your decision to post it on a thread about an extremely charismatic ICE (instead of the numerous EV threads) was done purely to derail and inflame the discussion. tr3a said:

Oh, let's see what we have here then...Oh, it's just a magnet and some copper wire...

Would be interesting to know the service schedule. I doubt it's a "change the oil and filters once a year and it'll last for 100k miles" type of unit.
My thoughts exactly, even though it's a magnificent thing. It reminds me of the line from Viz regarding the "Uzisuzi Trumper' - "You have to change the oil filter every 15 miles; that's why they're so reliable apparently".

When was the last time someone sat next to an open log fire and said "Damn, I wish this was a 99% efficient infra red heater panel"?
Personally, I find nothing exciting about an electric motor, but find a high revving ICE quite entertaining...but then I am weird like that.
