I have been following the Porsche Macan EV for some time now. An EV will be my next vehicle to replace my daily. (I have an ICE as backup). This thread is just indicative of why I have been thinking that the Macan EV will be a flop. Apart from the post above and maybe a few others everything else is NOT about the Macan EV. I dont think the interest is there and you cant assume that the take up will be identical to the Taycan since we all know that was mostly done for financial reasons and the financial situation is completely different now.Porsche also needs to get over this aversion to one pedal driving. The residual values have become the latest tribal motoring forum reflex action (see “has it broken down yet” JLR products, recently replaced by “has it been stolen yet”)…. Not sure the average punter saw much of that pain, as very few bought privately.
Demand for EVs isn’t growing as fast, but more and more are still being sold. Doesn’t match the middle aged man’s go to narrative of “iTs aLL a cOn noBoDY wanTs EVs” but worlds biggest selling car is a Tesla .
There is demand there .. just not as enough to keep up with the numbers hitting the used markets when the BIK route offers seemingly much less risk.
I think they’ll sell plenty ….

I thought i was the only one that noticed that! The loonies are running out of things to say lolIt’s extreme clutching at straws though. I drive to the Balkans all the tme but doing so has no bearing on the suitability of EVs which cover 99% of my domestic mileage.

Make sure you do it in a Model 3. That would get you a lot of fans !
As an object it looks beautifully designed and made inside, Im less convinced by the exterior, I think Porsche is struggling to hide the weight visually.
Price wise, as others have said, it’s all about tax write off. For mass consumers, Germany is going to struggle to compete with the new and incoming brands from China on price and I dont think wealth in the UK will support Porsche moving more upmarket, unless they want to sell fewer cars. Porsche better hope a new government want to keep using our tax system to subsidise new cars.
