Here are a few of mine.
Can I ask where you sourced those storage cabinets please? About to build a garage (along with a house!)
I found a company called We're Organized in California to build the cabinets for me.

Slowly getting stuff done in mine now, walls took a huge amount of masonary paint to get somewhere near right. Still waiting for bloke to come round to epoxy the floor frown

Seen that Lidl have some fairly decent looking units coming in this week.

That's basically big dug stuff, not powdercoated, isn't it?

Well, after posting pictures of my garage as was I've had it completely gutted and redone.

Before I start on the pictures I would like to thank Wayne of Croft Builders and all his guys for doing an excellent job but also turning up on time, suggesting improvements over my original design brief, working hard, cleaning up at the end of the day and flat refusing to take any money off me until it was finished. Plus they are just an all round bunch of good guys. Thanks.

Ok, so here we go.

My garage is a triple and previously had a low ceiling. I had a 2 post lift in the middle bay but could only store the trailer on it due to height restrictions. My wife is about to start a PhD too so I had given up the office in the house and my driving sim and pc were crowded into the garage along with the trailer and 4 cars (in 3 bays, man maths at its best). So, it was crowded, messy and didnt allow me to expand my collection.

Page 123 - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Croft Builders actually came round to look at the work we are having done to the house as sub contractors for Main Kitchens of Green Hammerton. We've had the entire house decorated and the ground floor gutted and all new stuff put in (another thread, another day). Wayne struck me as a professional chap so I asked him what he could do with the garage. We discussed it and agreed a plan and budget.

Here it is now:

Indy R on the trailer on the 2 post lift bay 2. You can see one of the new steels, painted red to match the lifts, in the background and the supporting beams in the vaulted ceiling. Bay 3 behind with m3 and 4 post lift ready for my next car.

New cabinets and steel worktop in bay 1. 1930 Ford Model A Phaeton lives there and the Den is above.

981S in bay 2 under the trailer/Indy R. We tiled the floor after leveling it using 600x600 porcelein tiles in dark grey.

M3 in bay 3 under the currently vacant 4 post lift. Im looking for a suitable 60s/70s sports coupe to live here.

Millie

Above bay 3

Pictures wise I have a couple of pictures including a Goodwood Revival poster from my visit in 2010 but the main images are 3 Tim Layzell limited edition prints. Tim was kind enough to sign them and ensure they, plus the two I have in the den, are the same number.

You can see a ladder (A smart concertina one that fits into the Den hatch without actually taking room up in the Den above)at the back of the Model A above. This is access to the Den which is shown below.

Some WIP pics..

and the cars during their daily evacuation from the garage.

Bought a field behind my back garden in February.

Just got planning permission today to build a 2nd garage block to compliment this one. 65 feet x 45 feet x 21 feet deep L shaped.

Very, very excited. :-)

Ill be posting in progress pictures. Space for many more cars. Epic!

With it's own barbecue...?! I think this is a new benchmark. No barbecue then I'm not interested in the garage biggrin

I think my garage definitely falls into the 'sterile' category :-)

I like the 'sterile' look. Where did you get the LED lighting from? The 'wall wash' lights look great

How on earth did you get planning ?

Around here you can't even extend your garden into a field.

Similar round here usually. The field is not in the open and is surrounded by 5 houses although there is access down a private lane down the side of my house which I have right of way over. I waited for a few months before applying and let it get over grown with nettles so it made our pretty little hamlet look untidy, had a garage designed that fitted in with the village and looked like a converted stables, added some nicely landscaped gardens and applied.

Charmed my neighbours so I only got 1 objector, booked my 5 minute slot and after the objector waffled for 5 minutes about how she believed I wanted to change it into a bungalow afterwards I simply said I would accept any caveat that required it always remain a garage and provided the planning committee with pictures of my current garage and it was passed by the whole committee without any fuss.

It's a 4 bay (large 21' x 12' bays) garage with a corner room of 21'x21' and then a gym of 12'x21' on the other leg and then an open end with roof of the same size where a hot tub is going. Haven't decided whether to use the corner room to store 2 cars or use it as a games room for my table tennis table and get a pool table. There's a drive behind the garage too to store my race transporter trailer. I'm going to put a four post lift in 2 of the bays.

Did you buy it from one of your neighbours or was it owned by someone else outside the 'hamlet'?

And would you have got planning for a domestic dwelling if you had applied - it sounds unlikely, but then presumably you bought it with NO planning in place so paid the appropriate price.

I thought some new Govt. directive was supposed to have gone out in recent years so that planners looked upon things in a, let's say, more positive light from the applicant's POV than the perceived *no way* image they might have previously had ...

This garage is gonna be good ... lick

I don't have the best - but I suspect I have the most garages per bedroom.

I recently bought a 2 bed house with garaging for 7 attached to the house and a further 14 detached.

That's 10.5 car spaces per bedroom - can anyone beat that ?
That's impressive. I've got a 2 Bedroom place with space for 11 cars (if you count one on the hoist)... which isn't in the same league, although all of them are internal access, so I can stand in the kitchen and gaze out at my darlings all lined up smile

It was the last packet of land owned by the family that owned the original farmhouse in the hamlet. The father died and the kids moved to Oz. I bought it from them.

There was no planning in place when I bought it. It looks a mess at the moment and I think the 'villagers' were just relieved someone was going to do something with it that was single storey and not another house hence only one objector and they would object to a cure to cancer knowing them. Get this, objected even though they've.........sold their house and are moving away and the buyers came round to mine, had a chat and said they supported my plans. Some people eh.

I'm off car hunting tomorrow with a mate. Probably won't buy anything yet (ha, said that before) but I need to get warmed up.
