what is an 'early' 3.4 996?
Discussion
The 888R and PS2 aren't really comparable. One is an oldish design road-legal track tyre, the other is an oldish design premium road tyre. Unless you intend to track the car I really wouldn't even consider the Toyo. Grip in cold and wet can be lacking with the Toyo and they whine like hell ! (you'll think you've got a bearing failing.......)
I've only just found this PH article from Jan featuring a Dakar type 996 from a Danish company Kalmar. And its not just for show.

I think FGP sold the car previously in 2023. It does look a great colour and the Sports Classic 2 wheels suit it IMO.MrC986 said:

It has been on FGP for a while now and has been as 'Reserved' for the past couple of weeks. https://www.friendsgreenporsche.com/car/porsche-91...
If the PH listing is new perhaps the buyer pulled out?

Looks like they've knocked £3k off the price judging by the image gallerychappardababbar said:
Thanks everyone for the great advice.
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to go with 18s. 17 inch alloys clearly make no sense at all given the tyre constraints.
Much obliged!
I thought for 'handling' it was better to have a slightly narrower tyre on a given rim. If the tyre is narrower than factory, the sidewall cannot flex as much. I'm not advocating fully stretched, but I've noticed an improvement on the front of my slightly older 911 with running 8.5J fronts with a 225/45/17 tyre. The advantage of this tyre is that it is a very common size, and therefore choice is immense. It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to go with 18s. 17 inch alloys clearly make no sense at all given the tyre constraints.

As always, the rear is the problem, but Mich and Conti make various decent 255/40/17, so if you specified a 9.5J rear, you could have a very nice pair, similarly stretched. Single entendre intended.
I think 18 is a good choice.
The 17s have really limited tyre choice and you can get a comfier, quieter tyre in 18" than anything available in 17" sizes. The PS4 is super comfy and quiet.
I have a set of the 10 spoke 17" wheels, but never use them as the tyres I have tried on them I have not liked.
I'm a massive fan of smaller wheels and skinny tyres, but found the 18s as comfy, and if you want it to feel "livelier" on the road just change the geo to give the feel you want. A little less rear toe in and give it 1mm or so of toe out on the front will give you the same sort of feel.

Already discussed a few times. Belongs to a boss or owner of Autofarm. Was priced at 39000 last time we discussed it if I remember correctly, it was a couple months ago. Now changed to POA so could be lower or higher who knows. https://autofarm.co.uk/2002-porsche-911-996-carrer...

Those appalling polished wheels would have to go. I know they were standard on the millennium edition but they're still terrible. And I know yeah unfortunately it's a tip but otherwise nice
