Did carwow break rules or did they get a world exclusive!
Looks great, rear screen would be great for the kids. I like stalks, but would enjoy the minimilism too I think.
I'm only doing 5k miles a year at the moment, so can't really justify upgrading my creaky, noisy, cheap feeling, inefficient but very fast P.
Other people have posted videos this morning - I presume they were all shot recently and were under a press embargoLooks great, rear screen would be great for the kids. I like stalks, but would enjoy the minimilism too I think.

Prices are up, slightly. About 1k euro on the continent.
Good to see they've tried to make it a bit more premium, ventilated seats, better riding, better noise.. or so they say. But we have heard that before, the laminated glass they started shipping the M3 with made no disernable difference at all.
Batteries and motors are unchanged, extra range comes from better aero.
Rear screen, those with it on the MS and MX say it just makes you feel sick if you try to use it to watch a video while driving, what is good is you can finally control your heated seats from the rear.
So a fairly conservative make over with the only radical change being the removal of the indicator stalks.

The laminated side glass has nothing really to do with sound deadening. It is now a US federal requirement to fit laminated side windows. Tesla are simply adopting this worldwide (logical) and selling it to you as a benefit.Prices are up, slightly. About 1k euro on the continent.

It may also reduce noise.

I agree, it might have some noise benefit but Tesla would surely call it acoustic glazing if that’s what it did.It may also reduce noise.
It’s funny how it was first called double glazing by “reputable” experts who went to lengths to measure the sound with and without and found no difference in noise. Laminated is now the more commonly used term, primarily because it’s the correct term, and anyone above a certain age will remember the introduction of laminated windscreens and the difference that made, and it had nothing to do with noise.

If the motors and battery etc.. haven't changed how can the max efficiency increase? Surely max efficiency is at speeds where the aero changes won't have an appreciable effect?
I'm skeptical.
Do we know what max efficiency is? All we’re seeing is a change in (presumably WLTP) range, and the implied cycle efficiency of that test.I'm skeptical.

Rear screen has to be a Chinese market thing, can't think of a good reason to have it as a standard fit.
The rear AC is a pain in the arse to control in the current one. It never sems to be doing what the rear seat passengers want. At least with their own controls they can set it without me needing to continually fiddle with it for them from the front. I generally like the changes and at the moment it's the most appealing thing to swap my current LR for next year. However a few 'improvements' move the car away from the spec I'd like and currently have. They centre around the changes to respond to the aledged criticism over noise and harshness. So the suspension has been softened and raised slightly and the standard fit Michelin PS4s have been changed to a Michelin Primacy in order to reduce road noise. The outcome will obviously be reduced grip. Also, the Primacy is a lower speed rating which means the LR will now have a 125mph speed limit V 148. Having hit the current limit fairly often it's not a change I welcome.
So I guess I'll have to wait and see what changes the performance will have when that's revealed. Hopefully if they've softened the SR and LR and aren't bringing RHD Plaids here they'll take the chance to widen the gap between LR and Performance 3s to differentiate the models more.

Off topic car but on topic to the efficiency question. Been watching loads of IAA Motor show content and seem out of spec reviews from YouTube driving the ID7 saloon and it's been aero designed for optimum efficiency at 130km/hr, 80mph. Makes sense when you think about it and thinking have Tesla been doing the same to get their additional range?I'm skeptical.
Big bug bear for EVs is inefficient motorway driving and maybe that issue has been aero'd out. Good news if real world driving proves that to be the case.

The lack of stalks is a major drawback for me, particularly the gear selector. I can’t imagine doing a 3 point turn or having to manoeuvre out of a tight spot and having to use the screen to switch from forward to reverse.
I’m a Model Y owner and appreciate all Tesla’s tech, but deleting stalks seems like a backward step.

Watched the review last night... Drive on the screen would be annoying but not too bad.
No indicators would be a massive change. Just been driving my wife's old car and the indicators on the right stalk are bad enough! I thought the buttons to drive the Jag I Pace were terrible, compared to the i3 which had the most tactile awesome gear selector.
It then followed with the Chris Harris reviewing the Tutthill 911 revving to 11k - Damn you YouTube!!

What do you feel about the removal of the Ultrasonic parking sensors?I’m a Model Y owner and appreciate all Tesla’s tech, but deleting stalks seems like a backward step.

Interesting your comment about indicators on the right-hand stalk. That's where they're supposed to be on a RHD car! The idea is you can indicate with one hand, and change gear with the other. All RHD cars used to be like that. Gradually we accepted manufacturers not tooling-up for RHD properly; the exception tended to be Japanese cars, which continued to correctly-hand stalks for their domestic RHD market. No indicators would be a massive change. So when I drive an older RHD car, I'm overjoyed to find properly-handed stalks!
I've also watched the Tuthill 911, which seemed quite a thing. Interesting to watch the man drive: in contrast to Harris (who anticipates the movement of the car), he's a (albeit incredibly quick-responding) "reactive" driver, collecting the car up rather than getting ahead of it.

Seeing Tuthill drive, he was just giving it hell! I guess if it's your car, you can be brutal - I'd assume Harris didn't want to bin it, or blow the engine Great that he could do the lap in 2nd the whole way, totally bonkers.
