this is my new racecar, its a 06 cayman with 997 rsr bodywork, 997 cup brakes, suspension and hollinger sequential box. its got the gt2 evo engine out of my old tubeframe 993, i know water cooled turbos make more power but i already had the engine. thats why it has ducts in the doors to get air to the now midmounted motor. more pics to follow.

the beginning, this is outside hauser racing, it was going to be made into a big block chevy powered dragstar. the guy ran out of money, this is how we picked it up in nov 2010.

another shot how we brought it, the floor had been cut out between the inner sills front to rear. no rear top mounts but the fronts were there. ideal for me to slot the twin turbo motor in and work from there.sorry i cant upload all pics in 1 post im crap with computers.

i was building it for the brscc eurosaloons, it allows any car with a roof in, so no radicals and the like. i might race it in other series that have short sprint races im going to look into it now its nearly done. we was building it for the porsche open series but it was replaced with gt3 challenge that has a handful of cars 2 years on! it was to replace our old spaceframe gt2 racecar, i got it going well in 2009 and won a few races outright but couldnt keep up with someone real quick in a cup car or paul mclean in his proper gt2 evo when he raced. i wanted this cayman to have better brakes and gearbox than the old car which it has. the old car was way to high geared with a 996 turbo box with the tall 31-71-18 rear tyres it was a strong box but i never got above 4th even at sil gp circuit. so half the bends i couldnt get the right gear ie to many revs in 3rd and not enough in 4th. ill post some more pics, i hope it all works as i will have no excuses this time

no i think he raced last year in eurosaloons? i had a roock sort of look 993 gt2, it was gold in 2008 and black in 2009/10 my car got smashed at the last round of 2010 at snetterton. a backmarker came back on the track after spinning, at 90degrees to the track and hit the front of my car whilst i was leading. luckily with most of the weight over the rear end i slided round the last lap on the wooden splitter and finished 2nd overall but 1st in class. never been so gutted with a winners hat on! i couldnt believe where the guy re-entered the track, never even said sorry what was you doin or kiss my arse. as you can tell im not bitter though lol.

What source/material are the panels? You running a tube frame front end on the car? What year of 997 cup gear ratios are you running in the hollinger? The Cup ratios might be too close for the turbo'd engine, depending on your rev limit and power band I'd imagine it might make it quite frustrating to drive. There's a bunch of gear options available though to change it.
Is that a metal fuel cell in the front?

its a ally fuel tank, its mostly tube frame apart from the inner sills are steel, the roof and rear quarters. im gonna take a mould off all them after the first season and make them in carbon. we made all the panels inhouse, we had to take moulds off a rsr for a customer and i thought id use them on the cayman. we got some 2012 panels soon though for the same customer, i wish i had of waited now. the front wings are carbon, as is the rsr rear blade. the doors are fibreglass as are the sills and rear quarter extensions. its a 2007 hollinger, i cant remember the ratios, richard chamberlain uses the same box in his all conquering car, im gonna ask his advice on ratios because we are both racing at spa this weekend coming. paul mclean used to use one as well in his gt2 evo. i think they are geared for about 170/180mph. my old turbo box felt like it would do about bloody 220mph which is no good at any circuit! anything is gonna be better geared than that and hopefully as strong
