TVR T5 main shaft 5th gear snap ring...
Discussion
Whilst driving the Tamora, I selected 5th and a little while later I thought I had lost the clutch, BUT no, I selected 4th and drove on, no untoward noises, what I now think has happened is that I have had 5th gear snap ring either broken (and fallen into the box) or simply slid down the shaft.
(excuse the language both in the title and DO NOT open the link if you object to the F-word as it is in the title, I have stopped the link from a simple 'click on' for you to copy and paste it into a browser) ...https://youtu.be/CbbJn-AHLf4
Looking around the forums I find that the TVR main shaft 'looks' to be a 27 spline GM unit AND THEN, I have a gearbox that was rebuilt 6 thousand miles ago (with the previous owner by a TVR specialist).
IF I find that the mainshaft is the 27 spline and the rebuild kit used is a Ford kit with a snap ring that is for the then wrong main shaft (as in the video) I will be most upset. ATM I am looking for confirmation/supplier of the snap ring part numbers for the two different snap rings. A@

I thought TVR were the only manufacturer to use a 27 spline mainshaft, which never made sense to meSo perhaps you're right and GM did too
If that's the case, why is the TVR fifth gearset 33/53 not shared with GM?
The video you shared definitely says that GM used a 27 spline mainshaft
And yet the heavy duty 'Sebring 0.8 gearset' is only available in 28 spline
You'd think there'd be adequate demand from GM owners for there to be a 27 spline version

Paul, it is your musings that bought up the 27 spline, that then led onto the GM post, I have fired off an email questioning to 5speed.com.
Here is the spec on TVR's listed snap ring 1000-139-032 (1.1250 ID, 1.3725 OD, 0845 thickness) I have ordered two, BUT these are listed IN Ford kits as the one to do the Ford. A@
