Well..whatever.... Ducati, MV Agusta, Benelli, Aprilia, Ferrari, Lamborghini will all be up for grabs soon as Italy's proper (deeply) in the fertiliser business. or maybe Berlusconi's gonna buy all of'em with his squillions to try to give him more appeal to the chicks....

Is the 'S' worth £4k more than the standard bike ?
I understand the main difference being the front & rear shocks (Ohlins electronic units).

Looking at prices for regular Öhlins forks and shocks and combining that with an electronics package, 1st on market premium and Ducati's premium... sure it can

Most of that list is making money though !!!! and Lambo is owned by VAG ... so not very Italian at all ...

this has replaced the Zero 9 as my current lusting screen saver. I said I'd never buy another street sports bike, but I could be wrong.

Sorry but I think it looks messy & ugly. Almost comedy like, as if a kid has drawn a motorbike with wheels too big & tank too small and the exhaust sticking through the fairing & looping around infront of the wheel. As for comparing WSB to MotoGP - Ducati aren't racing this next year?? Stick a human on it and it's looks/size looks even more comical, remember this:

E36GUY said: 4th fastest. Immediately. Only the two Honda's and a Yamaha in front of him. What's your point? Still 1.5 seconds a lap off the Hondas which has pretty much been the standard for the whole of 2011, so dont think either chassis's work for Rossi San! If we were still blessed with Super Sic and Lorenzo was testing he would most likely drop another 2 places so back to 6th, again pretty much where he has been all year at best! On to the bike, im not sure you could ever top the design of the original 748 & 916 when they hit the scene, however its close and way better than the horrible slab sided nonsense of recent years! Will any road riders who can afford this bike really be concerned by its chassis construction or even notice the difference, i doubt it!

Never have understood the sitting on the bike with no leathers/helmet/boots on thing. I really can't see what is learned about the riding position.

You can learn whether it fits, rearset to seat ratio, bar reach, clip on height and angle, fore and aft movement ..... Especially if trying bikes that are from the same breed as you have historically ridden, kev pictured has ridden his 900SS, 998, and 1098 all in jeans, same way i can work out if a bike fits me just by throwing a leg over .....

From some photo angles I don't think the proportions quite work somehow. In the top (all red) picture, it looks like it's been flipped. I suspect it'll be a stunner in real life though, with the devil being in the detail

Not for me it doesn't. I ride in kit that like it or not affects how I can move/flex. Isabelle's Cbr feels great in shorts and a t-shirt. Put me out on track with it and I feel like I'm falling out of the front of it and can't feel my legs in 10 minutes. [shrug]

Its not just me then. Proprtions all wrong - someone's washed the fairing at 60'C or something and tail unit too small (as is the fashion I suppose), exhaust routing 'orrible. Another cartoon bike sadly made real. Current 848 / 1198 far far nicer visually. Hopefully Panigale owners don't get caught out in the rain - mucho muddy Daineses!

Have to agree, the 1198 is a stunning bike but the 1199 looks comically disproportioned.
