Fired up the little 250 Velocette. Such an angry sounding little thing, my wife warned me I probably should stop it as it was kinda echoing round the houses hehe

I’ve been meaning to do so this since I bought the bike three years ago…..the battery connections were badly done and the wires too short, so after ordering the proper wire and connector lugs I set about cutting into the loom and replacing the wires. I recently broke down (faulty relay) and the AA chap had a go at replacing one of the connectors (badly), so I was keen to redo it all. Hopefully this will ensure a reliable bike over the summer.

Went to Sportsbikeshop (Reading) this morning to grab a few bits and bobs then home and serviced the Harley.

First time working on one, my oil catch pan wouldn’t fit underneath then my spout wouldn’t fit when I came to refill the primary case. Improvise adapt and overcome.

Have a great weekend all

Really nice package!

I'm still in the honeymoon period with this.
The power still shocks me, I love how compliant the suspension is, and it's comfy enough to spend a whole day on the bike.

I really don't know where I'd go from here, it ticks so many boxes that I can't imagine needing anything else.

Bought a cheap Honda CX500 to add to the fleet. Mainly as something comfortable to take on slow runs like the DGR.
A little project, bit of a cosmetic tidy then just ride it.

Ahh the timing chain is about done and the electrics could do with an update. Now it’s a bigger project!

I love the CX motor. So easy to work with.
Keep posted on the updates?

Have you kept it as it was styling wise?

It’s staying mostly as is, I bought it as a comfy plodder rather than a big cafe project as I’ve done that before. The last two years on the DGR I’ve promised myself that I’d get something more comfortable than my Ducati so this is it!

I’m going through the bike just now and have replaced the timing chain (and tensioner), stator (upgrade), ignition system (upgrade), front brake master cylinder and loads of seals. I’m just waiting for a new starter clutch and I can get the engine back together.
I’ve painted some of the chrome parts as getting new ones is proving complicated and will tidy up the bodywork at some point. Main thing just now is getting it working reliably.

This was day 1

Refreshing to see one as intended. My father had one back in the day.
How do you find parts availability?

Parts are amazingly easy to get (well I was amazed anyway) apart from a few odd things, it’s a nice change from my Gpz600 where I really struggled to get a lot of the parts needed.
Apparently parts supply is better now than it has been in years as so many are being modified.

If I’m looking at older bikes the supply of parts is the first thing I check, nothing worse than having a bike you can’t use because something critical simply isn’t available.

Parts availability makes sense, as you say it is a super popular bike for cafe etc!

I bought an old CB400 to put about on a couple of years back. parts were a nightmare for that. Shame as it was a solid old thing just needed silly bits

Keep us updated on the CX
