Remap my F800GSA or buy a GSX1250F?

I like my F800GSA but I find it somewhat gutless. I'm never going off road on it but I like sitting upright.



However...

I'm going to Europe I don't want to be suffering with its bhp.

Should I go with Bhp tuning and pay £299 OR TRADE IN/get a sports tourer?

I took a 800cc Tiger across Europe and was frustrated by its lack of poke. It just didn't shift- felt laborious and I admit I hated the lethargy after a few hundred miles.


I'm more of a sports tourer rider than 'adventure' bit for the sake of £300 why get rid of a perfectly decent bike that does most things?


No I can't get reasonable insurance on most bikes over 7k.

I wear dealer boots.

So you hated an 800 because it was gutless but you bought another even more boring 800?

There is nothing you can do to an F800 that will fundementaly change its performance.

Everybody needs a KTM 1290 in their life at some point. Sounds like you’re about there now

I would LOVE A 1290. It's cost and insurance sadly - most bikes are still 2k+ insurance.

Take it to TTS and get it turboed.

The F800GSA has off-road capability. Is that important?

Not at all. I rode on a banking to avoid a stuck lorry on a moorland road this week- that's my off road experience in total.

Wind protection- grunt are more important.

I've had a few bikes in two years... I'm catching up....


Tiger 800 (remembering back - sore ass on 100s of miles and rightside bar was very vibey.

A 1090 Adventure. Sat on more than in. But I liked its switchgear feel and engine.

Then a R1200RT- I liked it but found it was a lethargic bike.

Vstrom 1000 I'll be honest. I really liked its engine but the insurance was insane. It felt slightly dull/neutral to ride.
