stick a TVR 5.0 Speed six engine in it, now that would be the bks and a bit special, 100% TVR as well for the ultimate TVR smile
A bit special in that you would have about 100 bhp less power and need a re-builb after six months!
hardly 100% tvr in a Griff iether, not forgetting the most important bit 'It's not a V8'

I remember you trying to talk me out of putting an LS in the Griff at Oulton, so pleased i did not listen tongue out

I have nothing against ls engines they are awesome though I'm a TVR fan so would always prefer original engine or TVR engine, have you been in a 4.5 Supersport S6 engined car? nice 5 year unlimited mileage warranty as well, have topcats given you that?

I'm looking forward to your Oulton lap times in your big BHP Griff wink

....a 575 hp 350 SBC would be a really highly tuned engine, with a pretty radical cam.
Well, it's a 406ci, all a different league...and yes, it's pretty radical but smooth enough to be able to drive in town without getting a complete mess, the builders are ''American speed'' of ILL/USA, the same guys who build the Ultima engines, great and brilliant professionals with a pretty good after sale follow up.

I couldn't recommend them enough.

Many thanks, i did prefer it before all the ECU and electric gubbins cluttered up the front & there was a nice new Acu-sump on view, but space got real tight and i wanted to do away with everything in the passenger footwell so battery is now behind seat! Acu sump would of looked very trick in the old RV8 air intake cut out but once again function won ahead of form and we kept all that oil low down.
Still not finished as i want to tidy a few loose end up and colour code the air intake and a few other bits, i've also had to fill a few holes & move the brake resevoir to accomadate the new bonnet

Let all us Griffs know when the Oulton Park 'shoot out' happens. Rover Griff versus LS Griff. Interesting.
We shall be there!! To standardise driver skills have a driver swap at some point. This would be a first time and only time, one off. All good fun "all in the best possible taste", arms and legs all crossed! Shall bring my video skills for a documentory.

Sounds great! Would love some good footage, I want to run both cars at Oulton as i need to answer a question thats bugging me? From seat to seat in the pits what is the differance in handling characteristics etc, and more importantantly which car am i quicker in? & which is more fun?
Need to put some laps in though as it will only be my third visit, think i've got some footage of the first visit in the RV8 as standard with some 888's when we nearly ended up in the tyres backwards at 60!!
The LS is not even run in yet but the 350 is ready to go and i cannot wait to see how it goes @ Oulton! So far only had it on Spa and that was epic[well at least in my headit was]:]

very interesting.. so you think the LS3 engine is enough?.. a LS7 is too much??
.
you must have been gutted over the Cobra... I re-built a CB1100RC once and the guy who bought it smashed it up on the way home weeping I know I had his dosh in my hand... but all the time spent!..
.
BTW... no, not selling the Griff... It will never happen coz I don't have the time laugh

My ls3 makes more power than an ls7, you can build an ls3 with more power than an ls7 for less money, that will have a stronger block and internals.

Would love to get your thoughts on the best LS3 up-grades and order of works? Read an interesting piece about what was more worthwhile: Cams or ported and polished heads

Oulton on the 20th anyone??

Ooh, know that does look tasty!! are those restrictors that need chucking in the bin, on the entry to the airboxes?

Cam, then a stroker kit will give you a huge boost in power and grunt!

Will i lose any driveability low down? will it still idle below 95rpm?

And what sort of power gains are we talking about? Feel like Homer in a doghnut when talking power!

There are some real nice cams about for the ls3 motor , I've done a few and they are very good all round , still nice bottom end stronger mid with much better top end rev range . It depends on where you want the most gains top end or torque , or a mixture ! Running a stock motor is missing out on so much

Look forward to stopping in Birmingham and talking cams, not to worried about top end as its got no roof and not the best aero, more interested in grunt out of corners and that 'st thats quick feeling' :]

does such conversion with LS3 and some tweaks say 480hp needs a dry sump or at least a baffled sump?
if you take it to track-days?

We have run cars in race series on slicks with no dry sump or baffled sump with no problems at all , but we do a baffle as it is better with one , and a oil cooler is recomended . A proper dry sump is good but lots of money and really needed for full on race cars
