Well summer is not far off and I'm please to say neither is my LS conversion just the final air intake details to finish. Many thanks to Ian and Ant at Sportmotive for a cracking job......... I can't wait

Thanks guys I'm really pleased Sportmotive have done a fantastic job and yes I will have it at the Growl assuming I can keep it pointing in the right direction. I think i'm going to have to get used to rear wheel steering!!!

Very nice indeed. Sportmotive do a cracking job on these conversions, it looks almost OEM.
How long does it take?

I actually think its tidier than OEM, I don't think the conversion would take that long, Ian could answer that. It's not just an engine change, Sportmotive have reengineered the engine compartment, different cooling lay-out with more coolant volume (no more air locks) and air intake track. The good news is no chassis mods and the engine mounts are the same, there are a few bespoke components that have been designed to make the conversion work. The run kit also does away with most of the electrical spaghetti in the footwell so more good news.

Welcome to the club! Your conversion looks different to the last sportmotive ls i saw [argoose]?? Or is that just new cooling? Hope to meet at the Growl, it would be good to get some rolling road figures to see what kind of numbers the ls3 are making? Are you running your original wheels and tyres sizes? Thanks

ooo aaaa nice  it also has the same sort exhaust pipes under the hood in front of the engine... I thought the could also go down directly like most V8 cars have so to say.

We elected to run the headers forward like the RV8 as it's a bit tight down around the chassis for running the secondaries

Thanks  The air intake and the cooling are a bit different from Angus' set up, we've gone for a deeper ali rad and different expansion and header tank lay-out, the fans are pushing now not pulling. I am planning to go to the Growl work permitting and if its properly run in I may put it on the rollers although the numbers are probably academic as I'm sure it will be ***kin quick and that's enough for me.  I've got 18's all round but I may try 16's on the front.

Looks good eff. Tidy. Question. Is the car any heavier with the LS than with the Rover engine. If so, does it change the 50/50 front to back weight distribution. Any thoughts about installing traction control to make it more drivable. Torque lock up and break away on the rear drive will be even more savage. We like a savage Griff, but!

Thanks and all good questions, there was a thread from Per in Norway about engine weight, as far as I remember the Chevy is a little heavier. We've moved the battery from the footwell and put an Odyssey gel battery behind each seat, that may help a bit with the weight distribution it would be sensible though to measure the corner weights. I haven't thought much about traction control, a good system that doesn't just work on the engine would I suspect be a bugger to fit and would be expensive, I'll see how I get on with my right foot!! I agree matching revs to gears and speed will be crucial if I am to keep it out of the scenery and I am beging to think that my billet ali flywheel might be troublesome.

A friend of mine sent me before and after photos, sorry and shoot me down if you want to, but the Sportmotive set up looks so much better than the standard OEM version. I have the greatest respect for those who have tidied up their engine bays and there are some lovely examples out there, but this install is just so much neater.

ive no idea how a more intelligent system can be fitted, without a lot of work integrating brakes etc. That would be worth considering, I'll have a look at their stuff, did you find the system intrusive? I had an one on a BMW and nipping out of a junction was not always easy if you got a bit of tyre slip the system choked the engine not nice with a truck approaching!!
