Hi,

I'm a car enthausiast from the Netherlands and I'm searching for a nice TVR Griffith 500.
I think (but I have never driven one) that this is the most appealing Griffith. I'm not a TVR specialist and therefore, maybe the specialists on this forum can give their opinion. I am searching for a car in very good condition. As there are not many LHD TVR's for sale in The Netherlands I am now searching for a RHD.

I like this car:http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/tvr/griffith/-springtime-offer-a-well-cared-for-low-mileage-example-tvr-griffith-500-with-1-years-warranty/1593658?isexperiment=true

What do you think about this Griffith 500? Does anyone know this car?
Is this a good price for this TVR? In my search prices seem to vary a lot.

Thanks!

A lot depends on whether or not you want an original Griff, which that one isn't. If you don't mind that, Hollybrook are good to deal with and provide a good service (I'm a customer, not an employee!)

Thanks for your reply. I'm not searching for a perfect original car. Just one that I like wink.
Is the originality of the TVR Griffith reflect in the price?
What do you think about the asking price of this car compared with this one? As I live in The Netherlands, I'll buy a car without the year of warranty .
This one might also be interesting: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

Now that does look a right bargain at that price!

What I think is worth remembering about these cars is that virtually everything on the car can be replaced/refurbished so that they can end up being like brand new.

The ad mentions its a cat d so that may put off some potential buyers. Hence its cheap??!?

There is a black LHD one in Holland for sale at €22000?! For sale now for about 1, 5 year already, maybe negotiable? Some budget to tidy up and it will be worth more after that...?

Wat wil je nog meer weten.....na 7 jaar weet ik inmiddels wel het een en ander....

At that price Cat D wouldn't put me off one bit...... Especially as the OP is in holland, where HPi has little meaning...smile

Do you mean the LHD TVR griffith on this site (http://www.tvrcarclub.nl/advertenties.html).
This one is above my budget (35.000 euro).
Mischa, do you know if I have to worry about emission and exhaust sound levels when the car has a recent English MOT?
Is it easy to convert the headlights (the one I mentioned has Hela H4 7'' lamps. But I don't know if a need a special H4 type to change them.
Do I need a license plate light for the Dutch RDW?

Autoscout24. nl; black with cream leather needs some tlc i guess but it can be a lot i don't know exactly i've seen the car a couple of years ago. But if your handy you can do a lot and there is plenty info overhere....

You need to convert headlights not an easy job; cutting sikaflex without damaging your paint and take out the light pod with lamps in and not to damage the plastic glass from the pod.
For rdw you need a one day license or a trailer to bring the car and the V5?!
They check the Co2 just like the APK and exhaust sound i don't know for sure, think not but it helps if it is not to loud at the RDW.

Stuur mij anders een PM?

If this is any help to the original poster, I know the Cat D listed car well as it's local to me. After driving it on a few occasions it's the main reason I'm spending a small fortune on mine, as I hadn't realised mine was so tame. All relative I know as I had thought it was a bit quick! It's in lovely condition throughout and a definite bargain at the price it's up for, in fact if I hadn't bought mine I'd have had it myself!

This one - http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=24222498...

Ok, it's accident repaired and the whole car needs work, but any factory LHD Griff (with papers) for less than EUR 30K is well worth investigating.

If the chassis is changed, along with all associated parts (wishbones, hubs, suspension etc.), could the owner of such a car ask for the cat D rating to be removed?

Just curious....

The owner can ask...... But HPi won't remove the marker.....the best one can do, is get an engineers report as "condition inspected".... Which basically means that the car has been inspected and is deemed to have been repaired to a high standard..smile

"Condition inspected
This register was introduced in 1990 and gives details of 'written-off' vehicles that have subsequently passed an independent structural examination. The inspection will have been carried out in accordance with a specification agreed with the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre (Autolign). The seller may be able to provide an inspection report from one of the approved inspection companies. There may be a separate fee for this report. The HPI Check will identify which company carried out the inspection and the reference number of the report."

Exactly my thoughts although the ad says accident free so could be an oppertunity!?
