The facts are ,, Only the rears packed up leaking brake fluid everywere.
The reason for me taking them to court was, the rear brake fitted was completely again the law , both hand brake and the foot brake both worked of the same curcuit, so when the brake system packed up you couldnt use the hand brake to stop the car,
The service i got from the well know brake people was appalling to say the least,
I had to take them to court 3 times to get them to part with my money.
I took a Independant engineer costing over a £1000,00 just to show what a bunch of WA??ERS they are,
Any person who uses these people you have been warned, dont come back on here crying youve smashed your car or killed someone,

Goldie
Many thanks Goldie, very sobering words indeed. May I ask whether you eventually fitted anything wlse? Regards, Pete

I agree with the other Pete, sobering findings. I do have some suspicions on some of the stuff on offer, which is why I try and do as much myself as possible.

On balance, upgrading the brakes is not a priority on my rebuild. I think I will renovate what I have and then do some more research. I agree the fronts look the bcensoredcks but they need matching rears and that sounds problematical. Of all the systems on the car, one thing you really want working properly is the brakes.....!

PeteGriff, you may have different reasons for doing this. Might compare notes sometime although this wasn't one of my priorities right now. Pete (Mac)

Well for me I have fitted hispec six pot units on the front under standard estroils. Also fitted the hispec rear calipers on the rears with no problems. Used the cl pads from Brummie and find the brakes a good improvement over the previous wilwood brakes.

Only prob I had with hispec is that the rear kit doesn't fit on a 500 without changing the rear upright brackets for standard Serria ones. The handbrake is now cable operated as per the original setup

There is also a other chimaera with the same setup without any problems

The rear brakes fitted to my car by these people. used the original cables as well. That pull a lever on top of the caliper that used internal plunger compressing fluid
.. the same fuid in the brake system. The bracket looked like a school project.
Whitch was pointed out in court is ILLEGAL.
The brake people from Dartford then produced a leaflet stateing that you shouldnt (CANT) used the hand brake and foot brake at the same time,
My speciallist then quoted the law again on braking systems. And again the brakes were found to be ILLEGAL to use on the road.
My beef with these people wasnt the money it was the lying through their teeth in court and to me on the phone,

Pay your money and roll the dice,, But dice do stop rolling.

By 'ILLEGAL', can we assume you actually mean the set up didn't comply with construction and use regulations? I mean you're not suggesting the Government have sneaked a No Citizen Shall Use Calipers Made in Dartford Act onto the statute books when our backs were turned, are you? If that assumption is correct, can we also assume your car otherwise complies with all aspects of construction and use requirements? You have full cats and silencing on board for example, 'E' marked lights, and correctly rated tyres etc etc?

I'd certainly be interested in seeing a Court judgment clearly pronouncing the items 'ILLEGAL' (or even 'illegal'). Custard test?

I know the disc will fit under a std 15" wheel, but does the Griff use the Sierra Cosworth caliper mounts?

Might be tight under Estoril 15s.

Looked at KMS offerings?

A good shout for Best small wheel caliper, has got to be the Monte Carlo AP offering I would guess, we supply pads for these, for 70's F1 cars, and FIA mk2 escorts for Tarmac stages, you can buy it new still, and any pad make you want.
It's a lug mount job so should be doable?
