Thanks steve, think we did meet some time back ? Looking at the odds it might be a 4.0 pre_cat but I am in no rush, as long as I have it in time for le mans as I like my BHP I might get Dom to fettle it with a charger ??
Still looking
Will be good to catch up at the meets again .
Any thoughts on nthe Paris blue one for sale on here ?

Hi Steve,
The pre cat is mine thanks for the emails...
A few ph'ers have been to view so I hope you get some decent feedback (none of them bought a pre-cat in the end though).

Well, I had a 4.3 about 8 years ago as well.
Re precats that are out there now, the Netherlands 4.3 in green has been for sale for an absolute age. And it's gone up at least 2k in that time. I think it may originally have been irish registered from memory.
Be worth HPI-ing ex-UK cars too, just in case. My old 4.3 that I broke was repaired in the north east then sold through Target.
Castle 4.0 in blue has been around for years as well. Private owner had it up for 8-9k iirc, then Castle bought it. That's had a price rise recently too - was originally 12950. Didn't stack up cosmetically - thread about it somewhere.
That 9250 red and cream 4.0 250 looks good at the price - st/st manifolds, long term owner. Even if outriggers are toast it can be sorted for under 2k now.
I think the dundee blue one looks the best from the ads at the moment though - split rims and dark blue wibble. But it's all down to what it's like underneath/closeup - it's impossible to judge.
Only solution is a week's holiday and 1,000 miles getting round the UK to see the lot of them.

Not sure if it helps, but I can add some context to current values (and speculation of price increases) as I privately sold my pre-cat just a couple of weeks ago.
For anyone who remembers my advert, the Paris Blue 4.0 sold (in euros) for the equivalent of approx £12,700 (which I think was a reasonable price!).
In the 2.5 years of my ownership I spent a loving ~£3,000 on servicing and improving the car with new outriggers and dashboard etc. Not to mentioned countless hours of my 'hobby time'.
Did it go up in value? Yes - but basically only enough to offset my costs...
What would it have been worth if I hadn't invested in the improvements??? (I suspect about £3,000 less... - which is near enough the same as what I paid for it)
So I think talk of rising prices is largely just speculation in these forums. Obviously I'm delighted that my car returned the same investment I put into it (which may help anyone negotiating for a respray with SWMBO!), but talk of inflation busting price rises is surely just man maths (the speculation is probably fuelled by the dealers??!).
Its worth noting a frustration from a sellers perspective that I met several potential buyers who speculated with low offers irrespective of the condition of my car or considering the works completed etc. Basically there are lots of punters (tvr enthusiasts) out there expecting to find a ~£30K car (what ever that means) but with only a <£10K budget. Unfortunately for them they missed out on what I know was/is a really great car!

Very well said , if it had been a 4.3 I would have viewed it myself :-) I have been looking with a fair budget the blue one in Dundee looks great however the underside looks like it has been in the sea !
