On a similar note, how difficult would it be to stretch a Chimaera body to be put on a T-car chassis ('m specifically saying Chimaera because of the scope for adapting Cerbera bits...)? I'd guess the overall widths are similar, but how about the 'backbone' main chassis dimensions?
Like this you mean.

Not sure the body has been modified to fit the T car chassis, rather the other way round as in the chassis was altered to take the standard chim shell.

Indeed, this looks like the std 7'6" Griffmaera wheelbase to me...

I believe Andy Race had his Dry sump oil tank mounted in the boot. I would like to keep the oil tank as close to the engine as I can get it.
Correct, he did.

Tuscan racers normally have the oil tank in the passenger footwell.

Looks good.

Those manifolds look as tight as mine are.

What are you doing for the water thermostat?

That front suspension looks like it will be a hard ride biggrin

This looks like a great project! Have you done any modelling to establish what you might gain in torsional strength? It would be a shame to just add weight. I thought the perceived (anecdotally McLaren-derived) wisdom was that the chassis couldn't be improved much without adding a full cage (like the racing Tuscans they were based on).

This is not meant to be a negative post - I just like the nerdy elements of chassis design (in a very amateur way).

They're an attempt to improve on the Rover's compromised Cylinder heads. Here's an excerpt from an article I found a while ago:

These were developed by Ian Richardson and are a complete new casting design that addresses all the major shortcomings of the original BOP/Rover heads and which produce the goods so far as flow figures - and hence horsepower - are concerned. They feature raised, enlarged and straighter ports to give much improved airflow and because valves are aligned on the cylinder bore centreline they enable much larger sizes to be used. These heads will bolt straight onto a 3.9 or larger Rover block and in stage 1 form boast 1.85 inch inlet valves and 1.55 exhausts that will flow 130 cubic feet per minute. Stage 2 Wildcat heads feature offset valves, a whopping 1.95 inlets / 1.6 exhausts, which flows 150 cfm - about 45 cfm up on the best Rover head for the same valve lift. I believe Stage 2 heads are capable of delivering over 500bhp on race engines which is comparable to the performance output of a race prepared small block Chevy. Heads come complete with aluminium valve covers, roller rockers and all valve gear.I also understand these heads require the use of a fabricated inlet manifold, or Wildcat's own intake as the inlet ports are a different size/location to the stock item.

ETA I see the Wildcat Engineering were acquired by ACR in 2012 which is why there's no links to products the above site.

That's a good summary but also to add that Ian has retired as he is in his 70's and sold the Wildcat business to Roland at ACR.

I think a lot of people are interested as no independent client has yet corroborated the company's or their agents claims re performance uplift.

If you look around the web there are quite a few threads about people buying them but not seeing any great return over say a Power or V8D build.

There is a wildcat thread in the TVR forums here where I got the feeling that lots of people would be ready to buy the heads the moment someone not linked to selling them corroborates the results.

Maybe but from the rev's experience the reality maybe different; I seem to remember him taking ages to get the heads once he'd placed the order (over a year?) and a lot of that seemed to be they made them in small batches which had a high failure rate (read cracking) Always seemed like an odd set up to me.

Terrific project - can you linky up the facebook history of the work to date? Really looking forward to watching this progress and how you cover those wheels and extra track.

Those wheels look the dogs, where did you source them?

Good luck
Ian

Thanks for your interest
Here are some answers to some of the questions:

The engine is based on a 6 litre Wildcat Rover block 101.6mm bore x 92mm stroke
45mm Wildcat throttle bodies, Wildcat stage one heads 1.85 and 1.55 valves
Steel crank, H-beam steel rods, forged pistons, Pace BG 3-stage dry sump pump. Titan motorsport dry sump oil pan
I have not specified the cam, yet but it will be a roller cam
Custom made stainless steel 1.75" i.d. exhaust manifolds into a single 3" system.

I'm not running a thermostat, instead I will be using an electric water pump and the controller will regulate the water temp.

The chassis was mounted to a chassis jig and stiff tests carried out to measure the stiffness
As a result of the improvements made, the chassis is now 300% stiffer than the original. The chassis stiffness will be improved further when the roll cage is added.

I found the wheels on the American Ebay auction site. The seller was happy to ship to the UK.

Good one Dave smile
The rear uprights are actually front uprights from the T cars so could have rear steering , I do wonder what effect the bars will have when the suspension flexes . But as it will have racing style dampers , probably won't move much ? Will ask Tony next time We speak.
Cheers and merry xmas all.
