Do they all have "HC" badges on the plenum?

Re HCs, the 95 and 96 models were badged as HC on the plenum and I was told by a specialist that for the 97 on models the comp ratio was lowered a tad to make them run smoother.

Some great colors here, keep em coming !

I filed that one in "urban rumours" long ago, especially when the chaps at Blackpool told me they were just using up HC badges hehe

Yep there will always be a debate. It wouldn't be TVR if there weren't debate about all the names and badges and stuff used over the years. biglaugh I used to chat to Neill, Ben and Peter but you couldn't take them too seriously so that's why I take it all with a pinch of salt.

I was under the impression HC meant High lift Cam not High Compression?
The Chimaeras (and my little 4 litre Griff) have a 4.0 HC with a supposed 35 extra bhp due to a higher lift cam than standard, plus pocketed pistons to clear the extra valve movement.

Great colour for a Griff and while they're all arguing over what HC actually means, here's another of Cureton Green:

Aston Martin Mendip Blue, or so says the chassis plate
Triumph Daytona Yellow says the factory build sheet and handbook.
I suspect a dyslexic engraver at Bristol avenue caused the problem, AM Mendip blue code is 1487, Daytona Yellow I think is 1874.

Hi Mike, at last lol, Another Mallard Griff !! And yes, my V5 said Green, but just no way was it Green ! My old one looks like it was the darker shade of the 2 ? I remember someone saying that it could have been an Escort Cosworth color, but I can't remember the last time I saw one of those !

What year is your one ? Guessing it's an HC model ?
Hi, mine is a 1995 and has the HC badge on the plenum. I must like it as I have had the car for 18 years now and it still is a great occasion every time I drive it. Don't concern yourself with what the HC stood for, as that is much the same as the last 100+ SE models that were just a typical car manufacturer's end of run parts bin mash up (imho), and look at the premiums some try and get for these.
