Griffith 500 (1999) Bulb types
Discussion
I'd like to replace as many of the bulns on my Griff to brighter LED types where possible. I've changed sidelights on other cars to led ones off ebay and always been very pleased with the results and given that just about every light on a Griff is bit dim I thought I'd do as many as possible. I gather the dipped headlight is a H1 type but can anyone list the other bulbs types ? I particularly need to know the sidelights front and rear, brake lights, indicators front and rear plus reversing light. The main beam/spots have been replaced fairly recently by the previous owner so I'm guessing they're a non original type I'll need to take out first to identify but if anyone happens to know the others it would be much appreciated.
Rear light and fog combined are BAZ15D, brake lights are BA15S - if you get LED get the red ones. I bought mine from carmodshop and they are really bright and also come on a fraction sooner which is a safety benefit. You can now see the rear of the car from a distance which can only be a good thing. not changed the front lights as for whatever reason they are very bright.

Before you go LEDs on the headlights be sure you check out the beam pattern from someone who has already done it. I upgraded my light pods to a Sportmotive's 7" H4 conversion just like the late/run-out Griffs and installed some 50K lumen LEDs in them. However the beam pattern on the bulbs isn't good at all. Cut off was so bad that the dipped beam needed to be pointed further down than I would have wished. Also treat the claims for light output on these big LEDs with caution as many of these Chinese supplied items have rather optimistic output claims. Also be aware that they are often protrude backwards further than standard bulbs and you might have to fiddle with the covers in the wheelarch to allow clearance at the back of the bulb. If I was doing it again I'd consider using higher output halogen bulbs such as Philips Xtreme instead. Also I note that Philips has just started to market plug replacement H1 and H4 LEDs which they claim work well with good beam pattern.

All good advice guys. Thanks. I had a similar size problem when I tried improving the slightly useless reversing lights on my wife's Range ROver. The back of the bulb was a bit bigger and ended up splitting open the light unit as I secured it. I was somewhat p***ed off as I had assumed a straight replacement would be just that
