Returned from my travels after 4 weeks, went to start the Griff and it wouldn't start. Fired once or twice and then nothing.

Removed the plugs, very wet. Blew them dry, sand blasted them and gapped them (only 1000 miles old anyway) churned the engine to blow out fuel, checked I was getting a spark and had another go. Almost caught then flooded again.

The Griff has always started in the past so all a bit of a surprise. Any obvious ideas before I go over the whole system....?

Idle stepper motor?
When you switch the ignition off you should hear it retract for a full second. Any less could mean its sticking.
Easy enough to clean if you have the RoverGauge software to wind it in out.

Peter
The next time it happens pop the fuel inertia (kill) switch behind the glovebox, then carry on cranking until it fires then quickly re-enable the inertia switch and the engine should carry on running.
Good Luck, Steve

Steve, that worked, thanks. Still a bit disconcerted that engine failed to start and flooded but that will be the subject of further investigation. Pete
