It seems a long time ago since I started this thread Now the weather is a bit better I am going to risk my arm and have a look at the mechanical side first and if thats not the problem I will get a db kit if it is available. Well done to everyone who has contributed some v interesting info. Could someone please remind me how to remove the door trim. Thanks

Hi, remove the speaker, then unscrew and remove the reflector, pull out the ashtray and remove the hidden screw. Inside the door there are three long studs that project from the trim into the door cavity, one to the left of the speaker, and one either side of the recess where the mirror adjustor is. You will need a 10mm ratchet spanner (not a socket). The first one by the speaker is easy, the second one okay, the third requires total immersion. Take your jumper off first. (window up obviously!), my arm squeezed in just.

The trim is then loose. Undo the electric connectors, mark them first with insulating tape or whatever as they all fit to each other. The inner trim just unscrews. There is some plastic cover stuck on to the door, take off the thin sticky one, leave the thich flexy one, you can look under it.

Then look at the rear of door runner material, mine had all bunched up and fallen out. If it is shiny (not 'flocked', as the new condition), replace it. Glue the new bit in. You are better off taking the channel out to do this.

When its all together, you can observe the window trajectory as it goes up and down in the channel. Loosen central bolt on the mechanism, and space to suit (with washers) It worked for me! Good luck.

Thanks Nic. I have been thinking of adding a set of ratchet spanners to my tool kit so now I will!

Change the sliding seals first, before you do anything! They wear out. Easy job, cheap. Do it right!

Did mine, dead slow to fabulously acceptable. 1 hr job.
