common sauce of water leaks to passenger footwell

1 possible place is where the heater matrix pipes come in from the engine bay and any other wires that go through if they havent got any sealant around the Grommets.
Also i am lead to believe that sometimes the door seal can cause water to enter the footwell, not sure how but seen it somewhere in previous Threads and the cure was to cut a slot in the seal??(search needed me thinks)
Other places include the Windowscreen seal and also the Windscreen wipers where they are bolted through the body work.
If its none of them then you must still have the roof off

Waterproof your roof.
Check the velcro is fastened properly on both sides.
Check your windows close properly (ie sealed and not slanted).
Check all the little holes that all the wires and pipes go through (twixt engine and inside) are sealed (bathroom sealer is cheap, and I'll be slated for that, but the car is held together with the stuff!!)
Check the rubbery bits round the doors are in the correct place and that little grommety thing at the edge of the window is still there.
The rubber trim round the door might need to be cut (see previous threads) in order to let water out.
Sleepy now, back soon!!!

My Griff develops a drip from somewhere up near the glovebox if I leave it out in the rain, which produces a nice neat puddle on the passenger's carpet. I think it's coming in near the wiper motor, because a lot of water tends to sit there. I haven't got round to investigating any further, so I can't say with any certainty that this IS where the water is coming in. Might be worth checking on yours though.

1) As others have said, coolant can leak from the pipes above the glovebox. An extra turn on the clamps will fix this. Way to diagnose: (a) the water smells of coolant ant tastes sweet. (b) The leak is independent of weather.
2) Water can leak down the inside of the door and instead of exiting through the drain holes to the sill, can come out the botton of the door trim onto the rubber door seal which fills up and then spills over into the footwell. Short term solution assomebody else said, cut a slot in the door seal to let the water run out. Longer term solution, remove door trim and investigate (some cars have a polythene sheet which the water should run down until it is past the all internal apertures , but I've not peered insidethe Griff door to find out.)

You're spot on Rick.e. The 'official' fix was to pinch the rubber tube (that runs along under where the doors go) in two places so the water runs out instead of building up. I still get the odd drop running over the speaker grille though - identical in both Griffs.

I've had water ingress mainly around the nearside seat runner area towards the back during the torrential rain lately. Carpet was a 'little' damp ie sopping wet. I finally got round to putting the waterseal stuff on the roof and it appears to be dry after the latest downpour this weekend...fingers crossed.
I have though, spotted water coming down the metal rod that connects the door handle with the locking mechanism (just replaced the door motors/solenoids). The water seems to drop down somewhere towards the bottom of car between the inner and the outer skin (behind the velcro panel). Anyone know how to seal this ? Or 'do they all do that' ?

There are also some holes where the centre console is srewed to the body behind the seats on either side.
These going into the wheel arches and if they havent got any sealant on or one of the screws is missing i suppose it is possible to get water coming in here off the rear wheels.

If the battery has been changed, the battery box bolts may not have been re-sealed. The bolts go straight through the floor of th epassenger footwell. I used thick brown silicone based sealent, the sort that may be used to seal brown UPVC windows to brickwork. I have not had a drop of water in...although in fairness I do try and avoid using the Griff in the rain!
