Just tried to get some Toyo T1-S's for the front of my Griff .... and have been told they are out of stock at Toyo for the whole country ..... and they have no date yet to get them in !

Any ideas what else will work well with a pair of SO3 rears - and hopefully cut tramlining a bit ?

They stopped making the T1S and the T1R is onloy available in a V rating which is too low for the car, unless you get the insurer to accept it. Personally, I would get it in writing but even then it's my safety i'm protecting. Not that I do those speeds but I don't feel comfortable downgrading.

Where did you get them as I need 2 desperately. Got 2 T1R's for the rears and was going to go Dunlop but if I can get T1S's then great. Car used daily so can't wait any longer.

In laymans terms can anyone explain the difference between the "R" and the "S" - I just put R's on the rear of my Griff. (Yes I know there must be a joke in there somewhere about Rs and rear!!! )

T1-S

T1-R

I've heard good reports about the S, I have them on mine but not yet driven on them. The shoulder on the R look like it would take a beating and tear on track, but you can't judge a tyre on looks obviously.

Used to have the S's all around and found the excellent. Replced the rears with R's and didn't like them at the start. Recently increased the pressure to 29 psi and now a lot better.
But this is with 17" wheels.

Called BlackCircles and the orders were for 225 rears in the T1S. No way Jose of getting the 205/55ZR15 fronts. Even the Dunlop SP9000 are like rocking horse sh1t and he reckons end of Jan before he gets hold of any.
If anyone needs any fronts I suggest they order them at least a month in advance.

My fronts are 225/50 ZR15 W rated ......not 205/55's ? my rears are 245's ...... FFG - I presume your Griff doesn't have PAS ?

FWIW the Toyo's have arrived .... In view of the apparent problems I think I will lock them away until they are fitted

No PAS. Will the 225/50's be OK on the rim width? If so they may be an option. Almost identical circumference so may go for these. The T1S's are £137 a pop on BC compared with £70 for the Sp9000 in the 205/55 size.

I've got R's all round, no problems at all, in fact very, very good in the wet.

front: 225/45/16
rear: 235/45/17

so 17" rear, 16" front.
