"Blood diamonds"
Trying their best to make them sound evil, when it is more of a case of DeBeers limiting production to keep prices high.

Nope, not that. Zimbabwe isn't blood diamonds, but they are dirty. The issue is that Robert Mugabe indirectly owns the company that has the exclusive extraction rights. Buying Zimbabwean diamonds puts money directly into his pockets for internal repression. But hey, if they're a bit cheaper...

Ah, I thought blood diamonds was the name pinned onto all of the "grey import" stuff that doesn't come through DeBeers, making out that they would always be funding a dictator somewhere along the line.

Blood Diamonds are specifically those that have not been ratified by the Kimberley Process.

Zimbabwe has been approved, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable about purchasing from there.

Tbh I don't really care where they were from as long as they're certified lol, even legit sourced diamonds are mined from what we would call slave labour, where they work for a few pound a day if that, work and eat or don't work and starv so even legit ones have a bad ordeal,bbc3 did documentries all on the raw minerals, gold, sapphires, dia etc, crazy how cheap it is over there that the small buyers get it for before they sell it on to the bigger companys who deal with uk

Out of interest, how would you find out where a diamond was originally mined?

I recently purchased a GIA certificated diamond for my fiancee and I could find out every little detail about its dimensions, colour, clarity, polish, symmetry, light performance, you name it, but not its origin. This seemed to be the norm looking around some of the usual online retailers?

I asked the commonly recommended PH gem dealers for a quote and found they weren't competitive with the usual online diamond dealer sites (Blue Nile, Whiteflash), so got no further than an initial quote. Perhaps the PH guy's service is better than buying online?

poor me cry how will i feed my starving children now?!
im joking obviously. if they cant learn to feed themselves then nature has clearly deselected them for a reason. this includes working out how to open the cot from the inside.
