Thought it was ste to be honest. Really disappointing, very little happening and a complete change for the worse from the film and 86' & 88'.
I thought it was great, nice to see it back. Very funny too, though if the past ones are anything to go by, the fun may be short lived.
Shaun going off the rails?
Haven't seen the previous series - but this, I thought, would be a must watch, as I'm a man of a certain age who grew up in Manchester.
Aside from the soundtrack, I thought it was a bit disappointing. Maybe you need to have bought into the characters from the earlier series - but I can't see that it'll make it onto my Sky planner.

The previous series and the film all started slowly like tonight's episode. I'm sure by the time it's done it'll be a lot different.
Exactly, give it time and it will build. You can't take one series in isolation either, you need to start with the film where the story begins.

Underwelmed by the 1st episode but will give it time, if only for the background music.
This exactly. I loved the movie and the previous TV series. Great mix of characters, tragedy, comedy, grittyness and realism with an authentic atmoshphere thrown in. This one should have been great (given I was 17 in '92) and it's my era, my music. It wasn't bad but I was a bit underwelmed too. I'll stick with it and see how it builds.
