I will be having my Griffith 500 repainted shortly.

The paint that I believe I will be going with is code #HK95. I *believe* this is called Imperial Yellow.

I am hoping someone here has some high quality images of a Griffith in that precise yellow, as I have seen photos of various yellows on Griffiths, some I like better than others.

As a side note the body code plate has the full number of "P420 - HK95". Am I correct to assume that the P420 is the interior/roof code, and the HK95 is the paint code?

Cheers,

Rob.

OK, looks like the information on the name being "Imperial Yellow" could be inaccurate.

The only definate information is (a) it is yellow, and (b) the body code stamped on the plate in the engine bay says "P420~ HK95", and (c) it is a 1994 TVR Griffith 500.

Cheers,

Rob.

I did a search for you on the TVR paint code list that I have (not sure where I picked it up from) using P420 and the only two colours that come up are above, both yellow I think? Have you got the TVR code in the hand book to cross check?

Cheers Peter; didn't think of checking book for cross reference, suspect it isn't in there - but will need to look in the glove box and see. The body code on the plate is likely all I have - and a couple of stone chips on the bottom edge of the car that show yellow.

These are the first references with the P420 bit in them, so certainly a step in the right direction.

Still getting prepped. John at TVR North America says he won't have a problem getting the match, darned if I can find that code anywhere on line.

The car has one small spot at the lower edge that is the original yellow, so I will want to see a sample of the paint they are using prior to the full spray happening.

Another snowy day today - don't want to wish time away, but I do look forward to spring, and a 'new' yellow Griffith.

Cheers,

Rob.

By the way Peter, is that the same colour code as your car in your profile?

Still looking for a photo of a car in the same colour code as mine.

I will let you know when it is painted if they had a cross reference to a source vehicle for the colour - cheers.

UK Auto,

I may be of assistance if you are still having trouble. I have the very same body code (P420 - HK95) on my Chim 400 and the colour looks very similar to jojackson4's Chim 500. In my handbook the colour is described as Macau Yellow.

It is quite rare as far as I can see. I've had some trouble too. The Halcyon yellow pearl being more common it would seem.

Hope this helps.

EDIT, mine is also a 1994 car so maybe the had it in stock in this year smile

Sorry for the slow reply - all went well with the paint. TVR North America had the correct code, and a factory colour chip to compare. The car was painted and came out looking great (as much as I loved the red, it looks so much better in yellow, particularily with the brown interior).

Trying to post some photos - don't seem to be loading...

So, no cross reference to any other car - so touch up paint will need to be a 'custom' mix based on the code, and hopefully the match is good.
