low cost caliper replacement upgrade (new) Griff 4.3?

Looking to replace old calipers with more efficient new for road use. - Would like more bias to front as used to be prone to rear lock up due to weight transfer during inpromptu heavy braking

I know exactly where you're coming from.

My 4.3 brakes were shocking.

I got hold of a pair of calipers off a later 500 which bolt straight on.
Add EBC GD150 (I think) rotors and yellow stuff pads.
Braided brake lines and new fluid.

And if your back brakes are locking there may be something wrong there so give them a good clean/overhaul

All of which give a massive improvement for not a ridiculous outlay.

Must be the cheapest 260mm (500) upgrade. Did it on mine, makes a difference, compared to the 240mm discs.

Hi there,
Try MB Motorsports (mailto:info@mbmotorsport.eu), got a 300mm upgrade for the 15" wheels on my Griff, DIFFERENT CAR!
So powerful, stops like you always wanted and fills the wheel up too!

That's definitely on my shopping list latter this year.

Hi Spec sells a 260 mm kit for Sierra uprights - order calipers & brackets, use std 260 discs & DS2500 pads - Bob's your uncle? Std calipers for the 260 set up are boat anchors, the 887/888 combo for 283 discs even more so.

FWIW I'm using a combination of DS3000 front and DS2500 rear pads on the std 240 (vented)/ 252 (solid) set up to get the brake balance a bit more forward and this seems to have done the trick. Tarox discs up front. No complaints whatsoever for road and casual track use, drivers other than me seem to like it too.

For a next stage, I've offered up Tarox 6-pot calipers (B32-6) and 283 mm Cosweorth 2WD discs to the inside of an OZ split rim wheel (probably worst case scenario) and it all seems to fit with room to spare. smile Hardly low cost' compared to the OE Ford bits or Hi Spec ('economy' calipers - the same as the normal ones but in silver only and without having 'Hi Spec' engraved in them - £120ish IIRC) though but super quality.
