I have found a split appearing in my front tyre and therefore need to replace. Currently 225/50 ZR15 91W toyo proxes are fitted, where is best for tyres in Warwickshire area?

Or am I best ordering them online and then finding a local tyre fitter to fit them?

Also are Toyo best tyre or should I consider something else? It would be for normal driving, no track events.

Thanks

Are you in Shipston? No matter Bidford tyres did mine last time. Cam skill and black circles are a couple of online places to try. Someone will be along with other thoughts no doubt.

I've got some R1R's now as not doing enough mileage to wear the tyres out in 5 years and these are a good compromise between normal road and track tyres (ie still got some grip in the wet). Rears:

http://www.tyretraders.com/tyreInformation%7CItemI...

Only V rated but still up to 149mph and got written approval from the insurer. Not got them on yet but they are almost the same ratings as the T1R, but much better dry grip.

T1R's:

Or more typical non PAS size:

I order online and then get a local guy to fit them.

Bought Toyos (T1-R) for the front from Camskill fairly recently. Rears came from Pneus Online.

Not a TVRist but get tonnes of TVR threads coming up in my local chat wavey

Have AD08s on my clio, used daily, fairly good in the wet but do seem to harden a tad at very low temps.
Obviously about as good as road legal track tyres get too. When warmed, the grip is something else.

Seems to be impossible to buy proper tyres locally.
ears.co.uk have been good to me, they'll even do next day delivery.

All depends on driving conditions, and what you want from a tyre..... have tried 3 diff types over the last few years, and can see why people rave about each... but all down to personal preference and use... my views are:-

Toyo T1R - good road tyre, soft side wall improved by increasing tyre pressure

Kumho V70a - track day tyre, crap in wet, very hard side wall (no flex) and great grip in dry

Toyo R1R - a VERY good all round tyre both in v wet conditions and dry... soft side wall (compared to Kumho)

My view is if I could have dry days all the time Id go with V70a's every time, but with recent weather and using in wet its a defy thumbs up for R1R's. My heart says V70a's as I loved them.... but real life says R1R'sare the best comprimes

24 front, 26 rear for the T1R's. Perfect wear at these pressures and feels about right.

They do take a few hundred miles to bed in so maybe thats the issue. You could up them a couple of PSI and see how that feels but just be careful as I suspect it will make them worse. I've driven on 30 at the rear (stupid tyre fitters) and it is lethal.

Fair point - only got 400 miles on them at the moment.
