Does anyone know what the donor was for the Griffith seats?
Or, has anyone got a crappy old seat they want to sell?
I need some parts for the squab frame.
Cheers
Dave

I believe they were TVR originals. Which bits in particular are you after? The rails were donor items (Ford Cortina maybe), but I had no luck finding any so used items from Car Builder Solutions.

I'm after all the metal ties and springs that hold the foam in shape and perhaps the bottom frame. Before I bought the car it had been left outside for 2 years and the damp in the carpets has rusted everything away.

So many people put Tuscan or Cerbera seats in their Griffs that here must be some sitting around somewhere.

Your best bet is to find a car upholsterer, the can probably supply you with something suitable to replace them with. I would look to get some webbing rather than the wire that Tvr used as it tends to just cut into the foam.

For the wires that run sideways, you can use thick cable ties instead but this will depend on the condition of the frame of course.
There are plenty of chims and griffs with this solution running around.

I have looked into this and have come to the conclusion that they are basically a Land Rover item!. I have a Defender (circa 20 years old) and the seats and reclining mechanism when compared to the Griff are identical! The runner mechanism is different and the seat squab on the LR pops out, but I think the general frame and mechanism is so similar. The headrest is Jaguar/Land Rover. Regards, Pete

Thanks for the advice guys
I stripped the seat today and it's worse than I thought. The whole mechanism is rusted solid and the frame is in a bad way
Looks like it's new seat time, 77racing - I've PM'd you
Thanks
Dave

Throw the Griff ones over the hedge and find some Tuscan seats. My first Griff had Cerbera seats which weren't good tbh but the std Griff ones in the beast were frankly dire. I found a Tuscan in a breakers and bought both the seats and fitted the passenger one. What a difference !! A huge improvement to the driving position.

The Best mod you can make to these cars.

Dave,
I have a spare griff driver's seat (with adjustable lumbar support) - it's a sort of fawn colour. It may need re-upholstering as there are one or two "dents" in the leather (though someone who knows how might be able to get them out). Let me know if you're interested. I bought it a couple of years ago for £100 when the ratchet went on my original seat (thinking I'd get it re-upholstered in magnolia) but I managed to find a replacement ratchet mechanism so the spare seat has just sat in my loft ever since. Open to offers if you're interested.
