Hi all,

Just a quick one….. Im going back out on the road as a driver in February.

As I understand it, because I passed my test before September 2009 I didn't/dont need to to do initial CPC training but do need to do 35 hours before Sept 2014.

I haven't done this as I haven't been in a driving job for a while but have done 1 x 7 hour training session (August 2012) so do I just need to do the remaining 4 x 7 hours training sessions to get qualified? Or, because I missed the deadline (9 Sept 14) do I have to do the whole thing again?

Cheers

ps. anyone know anywhere decent in hampshire/surrey to do some training?

7 down - 28 to go

Each 7 hours course is valid for 5 years and once all 35 are gained they are exchanged for a DQC - driver cpc card

Does anyone know if it matters that you do the same module twice or do they have to be 5 different ones??

Yeah you can do the same module 5 times of you wish!

All courses are as bad as each other in my experience so just do the cheapest accredited one you can find.

Money making scam.

If that much then go for a one week residential course

Last day tomorrow for members of the trucknetuk site to get a £400 voucher from Peter Smythe training at Mansfield which can be used towards such a course costing £403 for 35 hours so only leaving £3 to pay plus accommodation !!!!!!!

We do one day per year at work covering safe loads or drivers hours etc ,at the insistence of the insurance company, luckily this is done by a CPC trainer who rents part of our office building and is formatted to comply with the regs , so I have already started towards my renewal in 2019 !

Started my 35 hours today , the driver hours and tacho part.was a lot to take in but have to say the guys at Viamaster in morley leeds and castleford are brilliant . was a bit odd being in a classroom but a cracking day and made new contacts. im looking at 7.5 ton work. may go to hgv later. have the 7.5. grandfathered in but have to do the classroom bit. luckily found a course via barnsley college that had euro funding so is costing me nothing. also doing my reach , counterbalance and telescopic flt licences week after next smile

Yes they are funding that and to be honest i was not expecting it but it was offered at the time and my thinking was bloody good opportunity to add a few more very useful strings to the bow .. feel very lucky about it too and very grateful. did the first aid module today. Paul our trainer was brilliant and was a lot of fun. also making great contact in the trade too. the advice has been brilliant. cant fault viamaster at all regarding training. Also a bit pleased as a mate of mine who works for a local firm driving an 18 tonner and sprinters in between mentioned it to his transport manager, company is over the road from where i am training. turns out they have got a new 7.5. tonner and want a driver with cpc etc. hes asked me to go have a chat tomorrow as my mate told him , that im a grafter, i don't moan and bh. ive got a job to do i will do it the best i can sort of attitude. so fingers crossed, may well have a new job shortly smile
by the way heard the Euro funding has now run out. apparently i was one of the last handful to get it. surprised i qualified but you don't ask you don't get and ive never claimed a penny in my life. bout time i fell lucky.

Don't worry Ian, I wasn't about to do that PH forum- thing... hehe

Im surprised that the forklift training is available. Nice to see a little EU money being spent productively.

Norway, Switzerland and Iceland have to comply with an awful lot of stuff to trade with the EU, but fingers crossed we won't!

Well , first day out today and although a long one it was great. knackered now and in need of a kip but felt great to go out and do a good 12 hours of graft... was in a sprinter today. new company seems to be great and the folk there down to earth and friendly. Newcastle was a bit of a bh though mainly due to looking like some poor bugger taking a header of the tyne bridge. oh and non stop pissing down rain... apart from that happy days smile
