Are there any fellow PH MX5 owners in Leeds? Picked up a shed today as a runaround, could do with some advice on what I should have inspected before buying it and suggestions for local specialists etc.

Yes. Multiple MX5 owner and self confessed nerd. Garage full of bits and a turbocharged one on the drive. Happy to help! Sling us a Pm.

Nr Halifax for me, wavey

Done just about all the work on mine myself as they're relatively easy to work on and the only place I've had work done, new hood, was at MX5 Motors at Carcroft nr Doncaster.

That's two more replies than I expected!

To call my MX5 a shed would be an understatement. Thankfully it is a second car so I can spend plenty of time trying to sort it out and tidy it up. I'll stick up a readers ride thread for it soon so you can bask in the sheer shedness. It's like driving a rickety old go kart, being an auto it's a case of stick it in D and see how sideways you can go. I love the ruddy thing!

I bought a Mx-5 as shed to run around in, check for rust especially under the arches and the sills. I took mine to MX5 City near Doncaster for a full check, spring was snapped but underneath was fine.

Fun cheap motoring for a second car

Giblet,

I know that some people look upon the MX5 Owners Club as being a little "trad" , but I have to say that my section ( West Ridings) are great fun, the pre prepared routes they have in their files are amazing, and the subscription costs are more than offset by the deals available to owners club members.

There are a lot of very knowledgeable people who are also very giving with their time!

Cheers folks. You can all have a good chuckle by reading the readers ride thread just to see how much of stheap the car is.

Trip down the M1 and you've a fair few specialists in Sheffield - Rodders, Autotronix, etc.
