Both the BP stations at Escrick on the A19 & at South Milford just off the A63 have been demolished so no fuel there for about 5 months! Going to be rebuilt & a made a lot fancier.

Sounds great - I`ll be wanting to fill up & clear off while the pumps are occupied by herds of dithering shoppers deciding on which ready meal they want!

With my usual top quality fuel planning i rocked up at the South Milford one with 12 miles left in the car the other day, only to find it shut and demolished. Just made it to Shell at Garforth. Problem is, I should have cruised but the road from Sherburn to Squires has this dipping/rising left right, left chicane see and well, you just have to don't you.

If it makes you feel any better, I did exactly the same thing about three weeks ago. In an old Range Rover V8 showing 10 miles left. I had to call the missus to come and pick me up with petrol cans as I wasn't confident I'd get the thing to either Garforth or the other way to Tesco at Brayton (I reckon Brayton was closer). For those of us that commute to Leeds the loss of the South Milford petrol station is a real pain in the backside unless there's another petrol station nearby I'm not aware of.

Indeed you do, but a word of warning; there was a police 5 Series sitting tucked away on the bend just after Squires at dusk last night. First time I've seen that.

I'm forever seeing both marked and unmarked police around Squires. All times of day.

They sit there regularly. Have done for years mate.

I back off coming towards Squires (from Garforth direction) on that blind brow before where they sit anyway. Cars are often sat waiting to take that right turn so its better to be safe than sorry. Also keep it steady past Squires as bikes are in and out. Also through the dip under the bridge due to the blind junction on the left just after (I cover the brake coming out of there and that's saved me twice now). Then you're ok as its well sighted to Sherburn.

Going the other way the same points have similar hazards.

The road from the church at Sherburn to Lotherton hall is superb as is the road from Cawood to Stilingfleet (both mostly well sighted so safe).

The boys in blue sit at the Stillingfleet end of the long straight up towards York too. Usually a camera van. I just lock it into cruise at 60 on there so I don't creep up. Same on the bypass near Sherburn (got me once on there on a Saturday morning going to kids football in.....of all things......the diesel Mercedes GL with a car full of 14 year olds on the way to footy - typical!). 69 in a 60, sigh.

Still miles to the nearest fuel station though. Argh!

Eh? What's wrong with BP?

Bramall Lane, Sheffield, BP, also crushed, but new tanks have gone in the ground.

Cheers, I didn't know about them sitting at Stillingfleet. It's a real shame but I'll be careful in future. I've been known to really attack that road in the STI as well!

Also haven't yet seen them on the Sherburn bypass and may have gone above 60 there a couple of times.....

The road past Lotherton is fantastic. The only downside is when you get stuck behind somebody. It isn't a great road for overtaking.

Usually relatively expensive against V-Power and lots of performance car owners have reported poor running on it. It's only 98 ron also against Tesco and V-Power's 99.

You're ok if you're on the Stillingfleet road going towards Escrick. The van sits just outside Stillingfleet catching people going rom Escrick towards Stillingfleet. Mostly for the bikers I suspect.

Sherburn Bypass they park int he lay-by before the bridge catching people heading towards south milford. They sit on the roundabout at the beginning of that road too parked up on the path on one of the exits.

To be fair to the Police their locations are published and the limit is the limit. In any case high speeds on straights are boring. I like the twisty bits! :-)

Word for literally word this, including the fun on the Squires road. (I have now made this road into my commute).

But also the only fuel in the UK now without ethanol (ok Bayford Thrust fully leaded) so I support BP when I can. smile

South Milford up & running with a Marks & Sparks coffee shop - diesel cheaper than unleaded by 1p! Escrick still under way - maybe a month?

Aye, I noticed that the other day when I put it in the 330i.
