I am in the process of selling a self build Westfield and had an enquiry from a potential buyer in France. I have been asked to supply all the relevant documentation including : the EEC Certification LC/300/A/001.

Does anyone know what this refers to? and is it needed to sell abroad?

I believe that's the Low Volume Type Approval certificate - which wouldn't apply to a self-build.

I don't know if it's required for the buyer to import it into France, but it wouldn't surprise me if the French registration system was very difficult for kits.

ETA - it looks like a few owners on the WSCC forum have gone through the same problems in the past.

It's more about the rules of registering vehicles in France, not selling to them - unfortunately.

Try this : http://france.angloinfo.com/transport/vehicle-owne... as a starting point.
and this PH thread : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=1&a...

As far as you are concerned there are no particular rules to observe, you can sell the car to someone in France just as you could sell it to your next door neighbour in UK, that it will be extremely difficult for the buyer to register in France is wholly his look out not yours.

What he's looking for is something approximating a certificate of conformity which is what he'll need to register it, something neither you nor Westfield will be able to supply.

There is one person I know who has a Westfield on French plates but it's a complete fraud because the carte grise says it's a Triumph, some wit renamed it a Spitfield !
