Fun retro daily budget of 2k max need ideas :D

Hey, I'm 21 and looking for another car I'm currently driving around in a mk6 fiesta which I'm getting bored of and want a change want to go back to retro before that I had a mk3 fiesta. I really would like to go something to work on and build up over time and mod, possibly start a bit of track racing

But I can't decide for the life of me at all, i was thinking just going rwd only at first but I don't know. I don't know if I'd get bored of it quick by going fwd again saying that I guess some fwd cars are incredibly fun to drive. Looked at an Mx5 mk1 would love one but the problem is it's a little too small for my needs I do need to take passengers places every now and then and also go carp fishing occasionally so need to put that in aswell.

I was thinking a mark 2 fiesta and create something a bit unique but I'm not 100 percent sure so need ideas
