Does anyone know if there was a power increase from the standard 210bhp aero when hirsh factory tuned?
Additionally if it was more than 210bhp, for the sake of argument, if it where to then be mapped by Mr Noob ( stage 1 @ 250bhp) would that then take the horsepower beyond 250 if it was originally hirsh tuned ??
If that makes sense?
Or would the map just take it to 250bhp irrespective of being a hirsh factory car?

On the 9-3 SS (2002-2006) 2.0 Aero there were 2 options from Hirsch.
The Stage 1 option (remap only) took power from 210hp to 230hp. More importantly it increased torque from 300NM to 350NM. I had a Hirsch stage1 remap back in 2009 and the increase in performance and feel was significant. I ran it for 140,000 miles, no issues.
The Stage 2 option (remap, exhuast, intercooler) took power from 210hp to 252hp and torque to (I think) 360/370NM. The exhaust had a squareish rectangular tip. I was a Sabb fan for years and I think I only ever saw one of these on the road and they're hardly ever mentioned in Saab circles. The reason why they were so rare is that the cost was c.£2500/3,000. Which was a lot!
I've only heard good things about Saabnoob (if he's still around).
I then had a 2008 9-3 V6 Aero which had a Hirsch remap - whole different experience.....

Nope. A remap to a specific power output (250bhp for example) would only take it to that number. On the other hand though, when you go to get it remapped they will be able to tell you if it's already been done.Or would the map just take it to 250bhp irrespective of being a hirsh factory car?

The damned thing is brutal, literally. The midrange is astounding and can pull on our E46 M3.
It’s also completed 159000 miles with this upgrade from new and still features its original clutch and turbo; the engine uses no oil or water.
It’s an incredible bit of kit, and very rare to boot.

Noobtune will probably advise no point mapping if you already have the Hirsch file, or he might say he can make more power.
I have Hirsch on my 2007 V6 2.8 (Hirsch claim 275ps, 250ps standard) but a lot of cars make closer to 300ps with the file on, Aura tuning can make 310-320 safely.

The mechanic at my work had a 9-3 2.8 mapped to 320bhp and whilst it struggled for traction in 1st and 2nd off the mark the in gear acceleration was incredible. I tried to follow in my F30 330d and the SAAB turned into a dot. The engine never sounded laboured either.
I believe the 2.8 V8 engine was actually developed in Australia with Holden and then returned to SAAB in Sweden for their turbocharging expertise.
