My issue, I’m wanting to change my car from a200 to GolfR or A35 but my current is insurance Direct Hastings won’t cover me, I have 2/3 months remaining on my policy, and if I cancel early I’ll lose my 1NCB and pay a fee which isn’t terrible £60, Is their a naughty way around it I can keep this years NCB but also drive a new car?
I think regardless if I keep my current car I have no choice but to not renew otherwise I’ll still be in same boat next year if I change cars later on ,
I could try see what my current car insurance is from the providers that give me the lowest quotes on the R/35 but I can’t guarantee they’ll have good prices next year too,
Or put it short is their really anything difference from 5years Noclaims vs 6years.
Also insurance on a a35 at 25 is about 1400 and GolfR about 1600 if wondering

I doubt 1 y NCB would make much difference anyway.
The insurance quotes seem surprisingly reasonable!
The only solution to keep the years accrued NCB will be to let it run; NCB records are held in a database now.

I found NCB makes little to no difference on the price of insurance ( I am over 50 though). However, adding a named driver reduced it a bit.
That’s a good point actually, adding my mum in law to my wife’s policy brought it down a bit. Edited by wong on Friday 26th April 22:23
The cancellation fees they put on are stupid, why charge you to cancel when there risk is now non?
I sold a mini a few years ago with 6 weeks insurance left, I just let it run out, I know you shouldn't have a car not yours insured but i wasn't paying £80 to cancel my already fully paid up insurance.
Nothing ever came of it other than another years NCB, I should add I didn't replace the car it was a project.
